It's sat in my account for almost six years but I never got around to playing it. Am I in for something good?

not really

It’s overhyped shit.

Yes but play with controller, mouse controls are fucked on RE4

If thats the original port and not the remaster, you're in for one of the worst console ports in history.

Is decent.

It's a tad dated, but it's still an excellent single-player game to play.

why? I've completed whole game with kbm and it was ok

Boring ridiculously overhyped game

The QTE controls are a little frustrating on KBM but other than that it works fine

I recall being disappointed it then again I had grown up playing 1-3 so this was the start of a new direction.

>no mouse support

It's ok, still wish we got 3.5 though.

You're probably thinking of the shitty RE4 port, this is a better one.

No. It's the worst Resident Evil but people pretend it's the best because it had 3rd person over the shoulder controls and was a Gamecube exclusive

No, resident evil 4 is overrated it is the dark souls 2 of resident evil, which means it is only some people's favourite JUST BECAUSE it was their first RE game

you may like it but it is not even top 3 best RE games

Yeah. It's really damn good.

If the enemies didn't drop ammo like candy and there were limited saves like the old games it would be literally perfect.

one of the best horror survivals ever made

the game is great, and has great replay value if you enjoy it, would be even better if the modding scene was more alive but sadly it's not.

Amazing game.

Why so many people hate island part?

Best RE game

Didnt offer much new content other than the regenerators which are piss easy to handle
Some annoying gameplay segments (Mike portion is bad on Pro, and Krauser is a love it or hate it boss)
Overall just lingered too long and did too little

It's a mediocre game and shit resident evil game. revolutionary for the time but it's neither a good TPS, horror or action game. best part of it is the first village and the regenerators but it's pretty run of the mill these days.

you'll be disappointed because of the hype, and dated controls.
just play re 2 remake. it was really a "plat at release" type of thing.

Just play it, don't ask Zig Forums

I like it because it's not like the others. RE in general is shit.

I bought RE6 over a year ago on a steam sale and was thinking about playing it recently. Should I Zig Forums ?

It has Seinfeld syndrome. It was so influential and so many third person action games came out adapting its contributions to the genre that it feels old and stale, even though it was revolutionary at the time.
I remember playing through it on Gamecube way back when and being so fucking impressed. Played through it again at the beginning of rona and it really shows its age now.

is it? I don't see much of re4's DNA in games these days. I've heard it was influential but I"m just not seeing it. people act like it invented over the shoulder cameras, (it didn't, didn't even popularize them) but even if that were the case, that's not much of a legacy. that's like a game claiming to invent jumping. it was inevitable.

It was great at the time, you might not like the "stop and shoot" gameplay but the reactive enemies and hit points are still satisfying. Also if you're playing on PC, be sure to download a mouselook fix since I've heard the game is jank and only playable on keyboard without a fan fix.

Download and apply the RE4HD patch
otherwise yes, fantastic game, easily best of its generation

No. I played through it last year and it's so imminently forgettable that I couldn't even remember what the last scene was. It's like House of the Dead on-rails shooter level of plot.
Also the gameplay is fucking garbage. Do yourself a favor and just forget this game ever happened.

>go to change the graphics settings
>game crashes
>be in an area with 5-8 enemies
>framerate chugs

I hate how unoptimized anything past 2010 is. At this point I’m about to just get the stupid switch versions of the games. At least they’ll be playable from start to finish and I can play them handheld.

>adapting its contributions to the genre

false

>it was revolutionary at the time.

for the series and the series only
games were doing what it did long before. it's like people praising botw, even though it just introduced things to the series that were already staples in gaming for ages, like ragdoll physics.

Yes. It's still one of the best third person shooters ever. Game fucking rules.
