Isn't it almost exactly like it was 20 years ago, but I guess that's apart of the appeal.

I enjoyed it, however even I can recognize the plot didn't move that much. Things DO happen, but not in big satisfying ways. What happens is presented in small ways with no direct implications on the plot.

I still want Shenmue IV.

I just got my Kickstarter artbook on fucking Wednesday. It came with a tiny Ryo in a forklift and that little figure was legitimately far more entertaining than the game.

Because they're not the same at all. Similar on a surface level, but the gameplay, atmosphere, and story telling are completely different.

Watched Aris play it, girl Shenmue is cute waifu. I'll pick it up for $10 or less someday.

People got their expectations too high, it always happens when these series that for their time were either technically impressive or had a really creative concept. People think that just because a creator made something that BTFO the competition once they can do it again decades later seemingly out of nowhere.

Another curious case of this was yooka laylee, Rare made some impressive shit on the N64 so that meant people expected them to do impressive shit on a PC/Switch/PS4/whatever when that will never happen, it's not even that the original games were lightning in a bottle or something like that either, it's just that literally everyone (even the companies they used to work for) already made the improvements those devs could have done a long time ago and unless they pull out of their ass some revolutionary idea that's not gonna happen.

TL;DR People need to learn that their gaming heroes can't easily pull out masterpieces out of their ass 20 years later with the exact same idea
