misinformation, Neil said he didn't understand how anyone would be that motivated, it was nothing to do with resources. In The Last of Us 2 the connection between Joel and Ellie serves as the motivation. It's not unbelievable in the slightest that Ellie would go after Abby after watching Joel die.

A major problem with the game could have been solved by letting players choose to kill Abby or not. There was no reason to dwny player's that choice other than wanting them to experience the writer's story, when anybody olaying a game should feel like they're experiencing their own story to a degree - through the character they control the actions of.
The real kicker would have been both endings being exactly the same, just the one where you kill Abby leaves Ellie with more memories of death.
