Nobody gave a shit about this game until the other day.
Most "iconic" point and click is definitely Grim Fandango, even though I think it's lame.

monkey island
nobody played mystery of the druids people were just laughing at the cover
you wouldnt even know it exist if your eceleb didnt make a video about it

No, Monkey Island 1 & 2 are the most iconic. You can see how many others tried to emulate them. Grim Fandango came out during the last gasp of the genre, and many people disliked it because the tank controls. It's a classic, yeah, but a divisive one. And not really a 'point and click' unless you are playing the remaster.

Literally anything you mong

I didn't know anything about it outside of the meme cover. It's good to know the actual game is just as fucking insane.

Limbo of the Lost

This thread is now about underrated point and click. pic related, borrowed it off some classmate in '97 and loved it ever since.

hotel dusk

I have a feeling most people will only play the remaster. Also the reason I said it's the most iconic is because for years people wouldn't shut the fuck up about it and most didn't even know anything about it (like that it was a point and click).
However, that probably happened with monkey island as well.

The VGA version of Police Squad 1 is pretty underrated. But it literally requires a guide, to get past copyright checks and some dead-end outcomes.

Police Squad 2 is decent retro, if you don't mind typing your commands.

Police Squad 3 is ruined by the driving mini game. I hated it just for that.

Police Squad 4 is so-so.

Full throttle

This game might be good if you are someone who thinks bikers are cool badasses and not a bunch of thinly sublimated homosexuals.

The X-Files Game (1998). It's one of those cheesy FMV games, but has all of the original cast, although you don't play as mulder/scully but as another FBI Agent who is tasked to investigate the disappearance of the OG duo. There's lots of funny endings in the game, highly recommend for anyone who is fan of the series.

probably my favorite point and click of all time. As a young lad I was stuck on the part where you have to use the plank to knock out one of the sandfish and steal the thermal goggles. everything about it just worked for me, the setting, the technology, the characters, etc. in my eyes the only flaw it has is that it's too short. if you like the soundtrack look up The Gone Jackals - Bone to Pick. I have it on spotify and listen to it from time to time.
"whenever I smell asphalt, I think of maureen" what a fucking great line. RIP lucasarts.

literally any Sierra or Lucas Arts games

I played the demo of that one off some pc gaming mag back in the day, shame i never picked up the full game. if you liked that give this one a shot

Well that's poor. The Star Trek adventure games got the original casts from both TOS and TNG.

Maybe I should mention Star Trek - A Final Unity as a possible underrated game. But to be honest, I never enjoyed it that much.

I never made it through the final. Scully killed me all the time because I was infected.
