Remember when a lot of Resident Evil concept design was almost anime inspired? Why have modern ways of thinking lost all of the fun and absurdities that put their series on the map all those years ago? Back then, Mikami, Kamiya and his team only knew America from "the movies" and so they made an anime as fuck game, set in Japan's imagined idea of America, but wasn't this disconnect between the serious subject matter and character/location designs what we all loved about the games in the first place?
A new RE protagonist would NEVER be allowed to dress like this, it isn't safe, isn't sensible, isn't realistic and Capcom seem to think it's not what fans want. Oh well.
RE thread i guess.
Resident Evil thread
>dmc got an anime
>sf got an anime
>re with all those games, movies, spin offs never got ONE anime
Claire a cute
Old RE zombies are so fucking scary. Nowadays they're mostly just gross.
There are some manga
I really hate how a number of Japanese franchise have avoided their anime influence in favor of "realistic" looking characters that just ends up looking weird or uncanny. I can't play a modern Final Fantasy game, they just look so weird. Resident Evil's basicallly in the same path with recent games.
>realistic
There are some dojins
I want Claire's stinky sweaty spats on my face
i don't know which concept artists at Capcom was responsible for all these hand painted monster arts for RE2 but he should be getting discussed as a Horror God. He did them all, the Misty and Cop Zombie art we know so well, all the Birkin transformation art, the Licker. I would love to know who this artist was and if he ever worked on more again.
dangerously cute
I love OG Claire and Sherry!
Yes she is!
I wouldn't be mad at all if Claire turned up like this in a game desu
And what is Claire now
lads I'm going to start RE2, with whom should I start?
Claire, obviously
Claire
>PS1 is upside down
that's kind of funny actually
rofl wot
>yo yo zombies what it do im Sherry Birkin BITCH
I never noticed that
Pretty much every retro game manual has hand drawn art in it. Now all you see is soulless digital art everywhere.
>midriff
someone at capcom's design team had taste.
