I love most of the classic series, and probably like half of the games in the X series, and half of each game in the Zero series, and 1/3 of half the game of the ZX series. I don't know, something about how the later series handled level design and general game format never clicked with me, even if I love the characters, world and art of all of them.
Never played BN, SF or Legends though.

Classic: All of the games are consistently good. Even the "worst" Mega man game is playable
X: Hit or miss, the music is fucking incredible for all games.
Zero: If you can git gud, these are the best games bar none. Story shits on X series. Play Legacy Collection if you are a casual.
ZX: Good games marred by a shitty map system.

When you rewrite the entire plot of the X series to circle around Zero, making him playable eventually, and then you make an entire series all about him, I don't think even Inafune could have fucked that up.

X8 was the most overrated shit ever. It featured smiley enemies and that retard Axl and a bit less instakill mechanic,which made it only a bit better than X6 but still very much shit tier megaman. Also they made Sigma a sub boss to some noname faggy looking robot,so it’s adding salt to the wound.
