Its a pretty low bar to set for an action game if it can be considered "good". Progression is hardly their, combos dont really exist and many of the team moves are just random. It really is a spam-fest.

Hard to blame the director though, he inherited a game stuck in many years of development hell.

No lol, people make fun that XIII is press X to win but XV is hold O to win, you don't even have to lift your finger. It is a pretty looking game, noting more, nothing less.

the combat was the only thing that motivated me to finish it. The story made no sense to me. The big evil empire was made totally irrelevant with no real explanation halfway through

Tabata was brought in to clean up the mess you brainlet. Not his fault development was a shitshow for years before that. It's a miracle he managed to make it functional and a good seller.

It's a great game that you can come back to countless times. I pity the people who bought it on release though, because it took them a shit load of dlc to come close to finishing the game.
Also not being able to switch characters from the beginning was the worst idea you could have, it's like an entirely different game once you unlocked all characters baka.

XV was getting fucked by tabata's incompetence.

The music is probably the best part. Aside from some highly intense missions (ex. Titan), the game was lacking. The Easter eggs were always fun to see, but my god did the 2nd half of the game ever shit itself.

The fact that they hid content behind dlc was pretty bitch as well. You can tell the game wasn't ready for release when the first half looked like it had so much heart put into it, but the second half was rushed and mainlined. I would have loved to have seen actual vanilla content within the world of ruin, but all we got was the final mission. Massive let down.
