Castlevania thread

What should I play first, Bloodlines or Super Castlevania IV? I played all the Metroidvania entries of the franchise and I want to play all the games now. Also, general Castlevania discussion, Bloodstained welcome.

I would say play Bloodlines twice to complete it with both characters, then move on to Super Castlevania 4. Both are great games so it really doesn't matter which you play first.

>Bloodstained welcome.
No it isn't. It's not a Castlevania game and I'm sick and tired of seeing it discussed on Castlevania threads.

Also
>I played all the Metroidvania entries of the franchise
Which one is your favourite? And how would you rank them each of them (Bloodstained included)?

Thanks, I'll play the first levels of both and see which one I'm feeling.

I'd say Aria of Sorrow was my favourite, as for ranking, I'd say

1.Aria of Sorrow
2.Symphony of the Night
3.Order of Ecclesia
4.Portrait of Ruin
5.Dawn of Sorrow
6.Bloodstained
7.Harmony of Dissonance.

It's the best we have until Konami gets their head out of their asses, and God knows when that's gonna be.

Bloodlines for sure.

Honestly, SC IV is one of the weaker games. It feels casualized as fuck.

So that's two votes for Bloodlines. I've been wanting to play it since I finished Portrait of Ruin back in 2007.

Not.
A.
Castlevania.

>dawn that low
I'm curious, why? I loved Dawn

I loved Dawn, too, but Aria was just better for me and as for Portrait and Order, I liked the weapon progression more since they rewarded exploration, Dawn would be higher than both if it didn't have the crafting system.

Friendly reminder that there is no reason to revive either Castlevania or Metroidvania because like with any long running series by any developer, Konami already did everything they could do with both concepts and a new game would be just a worse rethread of something an older game already did.
Square Enix retired the Front Mission franchise after five games because they realized that they did everything they could with it and allowing the series to end on a high note; meanwhile Final Fantasy is still milked even when there is nothing precious on it left, every new entry being worse than the last.

>But I don't care about innovation, I just want good games
You think you do but you don't. For a very good recent example, look no further than Ace Combat 7: liked by fans for the first few hours only to realize that it was exactly the same thing they played before and that they could just replay their copies of 04, 5 or Zero over paying $60 for the privilege of playing a worse version of those games.

Konami sitting on the franchise and not doing anything with is a good example of doing the right thing for the wrong reasons.

Friendly reminder that neither Soulsborne or Devil May Cry are "Castlevania but on 3d" because the concept of a 3D Castlevania is an oxymoron.

TL:DR, I don't give a fuck, I just want more Castlevania games.

name?

I know the posts you're referencing and it seems like you're kinda butthurt about how the last thread went.

Cybershadow, not released yet

No you don't. You think you do but you don't.
On an alternate universe where Castlevania games are still being made you bitch and complain about them not letting the series rest ("it's The Simpsons all over again!") and how increasingly soulless every new game is.

Just look at the indie landscape: a billion Metroidvania made people sick and tired of the genre.

If you've been anticipating it since then, you might as well jump straight into that. I played Bloodlines for the first time when the Anniversary Collection came out last year, and had a blast with it.

Nope, I'm pretty sure I do. Don't peddle your opinions as objective facts.

Thanks, I think I will. I'm glad it's out on newer consoles.

>Konami sitting on the franchise and not doing anything with is a good example of doing the right thing for the wrong reasons.

I'd like for them to get off of their ass to re-release Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth, alongside Contra Rebirth and Gradius Rebirth, if nothing else. They went out of their way to contact M2, the people who made the Rebirth games in the first place, to make a Castlevania, Contra and what was essentially a Gradius+Extras collections last year, but didn't bother asking them to port the three Rebirth games alongside those. At first I hoped that each Rebirth game would be in the respective collection. When that didn't happen, I hoped the three would be in their own, smaller collection. We're a year and a half later and there's absolutely nothing. Those games are probably going to be stuck on the Wii forever, with no way for people to legally acquire them anymore.

While it's not the first time I've made this post (I wrote something similar for a "dead franchises you wish they were alive" thread days ago), I have no idea which thread are you talking about.; in fact this is my second Zig Forums post today because I just woke up.
Can you point me at the thread you're talking about?

Still, that doesn't make my statement any less true.

Well, then if it's not you, it's probably another poster that used a Cross Ange reaction image in the same thread that said the exact same thing and mirrored certain replies to the threads.

Nah, they're objective facts.
The Crash Bandicoot fanbase lamented the lack of new games for years, only to not buy the new game released this year.

Seriously, you'll find a shitload of people in the industry, who have more experience than you disagree vehemently. Again, don't peddle your opinions as facts.

If you describe it that way then it definitively was me and probably forgot when I wrote it.
That said, I'm still right. And applies to not just Castlevania but any other franchise abandoned by its developers.

Yeah, obviously you. And no, you're not right, but I won't change your mind and you won't change mine, so let's leave it at that.

>We disagree so we should stop discussing
Do you realize how childish and creepy you sound?
So basically you never talk about anything unless you have the chance of "converting" the other side?

I just think there's no more point in discussing this, it's not constructive and there's no clear end goal.

Well, this thread got autistic pretty fast.
