It's a shame from a gameplay perspective because the Germans were often fighting against the statistical odds, which is what we typically expect in gameplay.
Attacking is also generally more fun than defending in games.
In reality we have many WW2 games which focus entirely on D-Day and the following battles, and significantly beef the Germans up and water the Allies down so that the player has a real challenge.

I'm sure some games have done this, but it's easy to understand why devs shy away from it even if they don't ideologically disagree with the concept of showing a Nazi victory.
You write about a common soldier who becomes disaffected with the Nazi cause as the campaign progresses. More tasteful, for sure, but what happens next? Defection? That just means you now have another Allied campaign which you might as well have started with.
You write a campaign about Nazi Germany losing, from the Nazi perspective. Well, this is simply unsatisfying from a player's perspective. You could try to pull of a Halo Reach sort of campaign but again this ennobles the Nazis and risks you getting banned.
