Even going back to the grid platforming puzzles would be both a step up and more unique than the ledge platforming we have now.
You don't need tank controls, but removing magnetism and letting the player fall to wherever it jumps (instead of all the invisible walls).
Make it more visually easy to read, cut down the clutter, even if it means having Tomb Raider Go graphics
