this guy seems like a loser but he's not wrong. I used to be a steveposter but i didnt actually want it and i didnt think it would actually happen.
The dlc characters (with the exception of banjo & joker) usually detract from the game, and steve does not seem to be an exception.

they dont detract if you have a shred of competency fighting them. then agin, that's not the concern of Sakurai. he unironically balances around 8 player FFA's, and whether or not he can answer the question "is this character sufficiently fun within his archetype? if yes, dont change anything"

They still detract even if you learn the matchup. Just because I can consistently beat byleths or heros doesnt change that theyre unenjoyable to play against.
It's true that the 'advantages' the dlc chars have don't make a huge impact on the meta, but I could see byleth or hero really making life miserable for younger players and forcing them to cough up $5. think of the children. theyve had to deal with enough already in the smash community
