who gives a shit if the character's black? if it's well-written, it's a good character. if it's poorly written or contrived, it's a shit character.

basically what and said. you probably think of non-white characters as only though media with them being depicted as stereotypical check boxes and thus see actual non-whites through those stereotypes. it's a pretty narrow way to view different people and cultures.
there's really no archetype to discover bc all the other ones touch on black stereotypes hundreds of times over. you can write a good black character without their race being the focal point of their character. miles morales from the spiderverse movie's a good example.
