Would you be interested if indie titles started to emulate the look and feel of retro PS2 games?
I feel like this is probably is the next step for the scene considering how many of them since last year or so have tried to replicate that low-poly style from the PS1 days. 6th gen, the next retro era. But I dunno, do any of you even have fond memories of the 6th gen and its games?
if you set graphics settings to low in most games they become PS2
now PS1, with the grainy and wobbly textures, I want THAT

There was one retro game in development that was stylized like an old survival horror game. Does anyone know what it’s called? It looked like a ps1 resident evil game.

That doll house game? Alisa: The Awakening

Yeah that’s it thank you!

They'll still require modern ultra-high end hardware because no one knows how to fucking code efficiently any more. (Also, fucking Unity.) Bring out a game with PS2 era graphics for PC that can run on a fucking low-power, low end system at a good resolution and framerate. Until then, nobody cares. Fuck, they can't even get fucking 2D retro games to run well on low end computers. Fuck modern game companies and their incompetence.

>Would you be interested if indie titles started to emulate the look and feel of retro PS2 games? No. because they wouldn't get it right. Not in a million years.
The next big thing after pixelshit is going to be "low poly" ps1 style indie games anyway. Get ready for it, we're going to be flooded with the shit in a year or 2.

Unfortunately games will get slagged by normies and reviewers for having bad graphics.
I think graphics peaked 6th gen and I wish developers instead pushed for higher frame rates, larger worlds, more complex AI, more enemies, particles on screen, etc.
Mason Thompson
that's literally already happening dude. OP even mentioned it
just check out a channel called Alpha Beta Gamer there's fucking hundreds and they're all shitty horror games lol. indie devs can be such hacks sometimes

>I think graphics peaked 6th gen 7th gen and we have a deal

>if you set graphics settings to low in most games they become PS2 no they don't you fucking zoomer
There are good reasons to use 2D to save costs and performance, but early 3D just looks bad, if you are doing 3D development nowadays, you might as well have something that looks decent, I know it has nostalgia appeal to a limited number of people, but that won't be enough, about ps2 era 3D, no one can pull off a new Silent Hill 2-3, understand that it was raw talent that made these games possible, it wasn't a specific technology being used.

>high quality models with low quality textures
Blake Clark
what games are you playing where the graphics dont go plasticy and plain when you set low detail you fucking retard
Nolan Morales
Yes. I am sick of pixelshit.
Lincoln Gutierrez
It legitimately almost makes me want to cry with how good the ps2 era of games were. It feels like I didn't know how good it was and didn't take advantage of the library more. It would be interesting to see how indie devs that also grew up with the ps2 replicate it in their work but I doubt they could fully understand the whole vibe of the console.
Aiden Fisher
Why would I make a deal with a retard?
Ethan Young
you people are such imbeciles, jesus fucking christ
Luis Moore
making PS2 style games is WAY too expensive atm we're going to be stuck to PS1 meme for a while
Cameron Reed
If only they had as many polygons as you have chromosomes.

Yeah, I think PS2 is a good era where they had to be smart with model size and textures to make the games look better. I'd love to see untextured models of Silent Hill 2/3/4 characters. I bet there will be a surpsingly low amount of polygons.
