Far more grind than usual.
making a fuckload of DLC then cutting the servers
Too much freedom with party comp. Your party has no personality because you make them all yourself. Metal slime farming being outright necessary unless you want to spend tens of hours grinding.
Not creating a big patch download for the game after they shut off the multiplayer for all the content was a huge dick move.
Nothing. This game was peak comfy.
Going from a beautiful PS2 game to a lowpoly (and not the soulful kind) mess. First time I've ever experienced slowdown in a DS game.
Tried to be like DQ3 but failed miserably, Only gets good in the post game.
One of the best games in the series if you had friends to play it with when the servers were live
DLC is all on cart. You had to go online simply to enable it. You can now active all of it with a savegame editor. You can also give yourself those coveted worldwide traded maps like Kawazaki Locker too, you won't find anyone to legitimately trade.
Framerate and locking cool characters behind late DLC. I wanted to go adventuring with the Inn girl. Everything else was neat.
i liked this game
what other dragon quest games would i like?
Same problem with Streetpass. The multiplayer features were made with Japan's high population density and universal love of Dragon Quest in mind. If you don't live in a densely populated area while the game is popular, you're shit out of luck.
Nothing. It's supposed to be boring, that's why it's good.
The core gameplay is great, it’s one of my favorite DQs because the battle balance/pacing is pretty great. It’s the extra stuff like the postgame that’s a problem for me.
this is how you know nigger faggots don't actually play dragon quest
The DS remakes of 4-8 also have streetpass garbage in it.
I loved this game a lot, but my biggest issue is I had to hack in some treasuremaps for metal slime grinding/farming. I live in the midwest n shit, not Japan and those dungeons were a requirement for late game.
It's a game that has many qualities but the small defaults were constanty irking me, they sacrificed solid designs so you could wear whatever you wanted but in the end it means you're gonna play most of the time with unfashionable stick figures, I also got a little annoyed whenever I had to see a small animations of the character moving around in fights for no reason. It also felt a little bloated with mmo mechanics and quests, it's a good game really but at the end of the day I'll always rather play through III again instead.
They gave it to Level 5 and they made a pseudo mmo instead of a Dragon Quest game.
Also the disrespectful, infantilized and farcical over-localiziation that all the DQ games have gotten since 8 on ps2.
Why are their cockney eastenders and government housing chavs in my japanese fantasy game?
>what went wrong
Literally the third best game in the series. I just wish they didn't use that lame wifi system from the DS. If this game ever gets a remake its probably gonna turn into the second best in the series.
So are they going to announce a Switch remake next year?
No remake
>animations of the character moving around in fights for no reason
It was originally supposed to be real time, but they changed that some time during development. That little animations of the characters running around and getting into position might be related to that, it's how I always saw it.
I loved DQ9 more than VIII and XI.
Things that went wrong:
- No monster recruitement
- Street pass garbage.
Things that went right:
- Generic characters without any personalities getting in the way of my enjoyment of them
- Absolute control over the party comp, without needing to worry about whether a character's stat growth will make them acceptable in a specific job, or not.
- Did not take a character away for an extended period of time.
Alll that matters in a DQ game.
DQ11. Base edition though, not the Switch port.
Why not the switch port ?
>massive downgrade in graphics, textures and performance
>all you get in return is a couple of extra lines from a tutorial area NPC
Just play the original version, trust me.
forget him, the S version is much better and has a ton of quality of life changes plus the tickington 2D quests which are admittedly fun
You're a retard.
If he liked a fucking DS game in the first place, he wouldn't be bothered by Switch graphic...
