I kinda felt Phil betrayed Xbox owners by allowing all Xbox games going forward on pc. I was perfectly fine with a couple games back in the 360-era coming to pc cause it was only a few, not every single one. I admire their current philosophy even if it seems to be cannibalizing the console. Their strategy is mobility and streaming. So it's like you can take your xbox/windows games everywhere. You can continue on PC, mobile and xbox and transition seemlessly. They wanna make an ecosystem like Apple except for vidya.

You mean how they wanted to let consumers sell their digital games after finishing them? Instead of the physical copy you'd be able to sell or trade the digital license to other people, meaning you could sell both physical and digital games to get most of your money back once complete.
With digital dominating nowadays this would have been very nice to have. Instead we're stuck paying full price for digital games and never being able to sell them.

Well, thanks to them the PC got natively a kind of game that was exclusive in consoles for around 20 years: car-collecting racing games (talking about Forza). Oh, and Halo MCC means Halo PC is back on track since the mess that was Halo 2 Vista.
Think of it this way: given a 1st party $50 game, Steam has 90M active users, out of which ~90% are in Win10 (81M). There are ~50M XBones, each one at an avg of ~$400 (and many sold at marginal gains or straight-up losses, mind you). If software sales are what give Xbox money, it's obvious that going to PC would lead them to make money while still being ""exclusive"" to Microsoft-related environments (well, until Xcloud, but that's another thing).

Then the game companies realized how much money they can make with those and started prioritizing it. There is a reason that you can barely find an AAA dev who makes strictly single player games. The only reason Sony still makes those because it is their strategy to pull people in their mtx ecosystem with those.
Currently MS is the only one who offers something in return with Game Pass. All the other platforms are asking for a full price before they even begin to really milk you.

Even if Halo Infinite came out in time and looked awesome it would have been a lackluster launch. The July (Halo) show was heart breaking. All those uninteresting CGI trailers and Halo.
