We're in the middle of a pandemic, there are unironically more important things to worry about right now.

However I think another aspect is that so many games are cross-gen at the moment that there isn't a big incentive to go next-gen just yet. Also the further spread of PC gaming mitigates the big selling point of better graphics for the new consoles (even though they're far more expensive).

That's beside the point. One of the two important launch titles is a remake and the other an assets flip

We've reached the point of diminishing returns where a new console generation is basically just a few baby steps forward instead of a giant leap like it was up until about the 7th generation.

I only cared for consoles when I was little. Now it's easy to see that their only purpose is to sell exclusives. Consoles are redundant and obsolete now.
