XBOX SSD

The youtuber ratoborrachudo has confirmed that the SSD of the Xbox Series X is a PCIe 3.0 M.2 of 2400MB / s of the westerndigital brand that is not soldered, so it gives the possibility of updating the storage of the console.

assuming they didnt do anything shitty like embed the ssd serial number into the console firmware.

I've yet to see confirmation but I'm pretty certain Microsoft will use strict hardware whitelisting to restrict which SSD you can use. It won't be user-serviceable.

HUE

>3.0
>2400MB/s

Well this confirms direct storage will work with 3.0 SSDs at least

Wait so they can source m.2s from WD yet the storage they sell to the public is from fucking seagate? Fuck off MS

Told you pcie4 was a meme for these!

sure thing bro

They still use the x-clamp on new xboxes?

I really wish they went with a full size m.2 inside since it would have been cheaper for more storage instead of a format next to no-one uses.

So fucking small

Someone replace it

It will be the same deal as every other xbox, the drives firmware is tied to the console itself. So even if you found a matching SSD it will not work, and even if you could flash the controller it would still likely not work.

I just stuck in a 2tb one and it worked, it took 4 hours to download the firmware, prolly see youtube vids soon

So once faster ssds come out. We can upgrade it to be even faster?

no the storage expansion will be limited to 5.5 Gb/s

In Xbone you could replace the internal drive with anything of the same size. Even with SSDs. You just had to stick in and do a system recovery from an usb drive.

Borrachudo means drunken in portuguese.

It's not pcie 3, it's pcie 4 but 2x instead of 4x.

>Literal who techie spic
Yeah I'm thinking this is legit

No, borrachudo means it has a rubbery consistency

Nobody makes ssd's in that form factor so it doesn't really matter.

The amazing power of the PS5 SSD! It lets you load games 1s slower!
