Why does it feel like there is less to do than in New Leaf
Does anyone even still play who has been here since launch
Why does it feel like there is less to do than in New Leaf

there's objectively more to do, and I still play weekly
Oh look this thread again
Nintendo used to ship full games, then Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 took off with it's updates and DLC respectively Nintendo switched up and went with long term engagement over releasing and forgetting about it (mostly, Super Mario Party notwithstanding). They said I'm the Q&A just released they're continuing with the updates past the holidays so maybe down the line all the visitors people miss will come back.
New Leaf was fucking boring. About 20 minutes of stuff to do before you hit the limit.
There's more to do but also less
You get a lot of options of things to do, but not a lot of depth in them
Nope, I played it very intensely for a month and then got more or less burned out because the turnip market bullshit isn't my idea of fun and it became very grindy to make money in other ways. Not to mention my friends didn't play so it was near impossible to find other islands to go to to get fruits and whatnot.
This game is just for completionists. Once you get everything done you're just playing an outdoor sim with yourself and it's super dull. Villagers don't interact with your town at all, they have the dullest dialogue, and the game just slows down to a halt.
Terraforming was a mistake but now that it's here it's SO boring. One square at a time? Fuck that. I get it's supposed to be a 'campy' feel but I aint about to spend all day digging shit that I'm going to end up changing in a week.
Game sucks.
Mario Kart 8's DLC was great. It was 16 new tracks (added to the game's existing 32) and some new characters for $12. It was 50% of the game's initial content added for 20% of the game's full price.
I know Zig Forums hates DLC, but that shit was actually a good deal. It's not like Smash's overpriced DLC that gives you 2% of the game's content for 10% of the game's initial price.
DLC isn't inherently bad. You have to consider its cost vs value just like any other product.
I turn it on daily for the visits from the special NPCs, and hand out some gifts to my islanders hoping for their photos. "Nice" personality islanders are the stingiest when it comes to giving you a photo. I've been giving gifts to Marina for months now.
It's odd they didn't mention the Thanksgiving event that's meant to happen this month. Perhaps it got shelved this year.
The crafting is fun at first, but becomes a chore more quickly than almost anything else in the game. I like Animal Crossing games, and I can even tolerate when they get a little chore-ish (ie. turning on the game every day just to talk to animals and pick weeds) but in this game it's over the top, because doing normal shit also breaks your tools. The previous games had chore elements, but in this game, due to breaking tools and crafting, everything is broken up by chores, even the shit that used to be great and relaxing, like fishing.
I want to be able to boot up the game at midnight and fish in a light rain without having to run back home, pull materials out of my storage and craft new poles, or having to keep a stock of poles in my inventory taking up space.
There is enough shit in New Horizons to keep me happy, but the new annoyances make me not want to turn the game on. I have had small desires to play, but when I turn on the game and in less than 5 minutes of digging up fossils my shovel breaks, I just want to turn the fucking game off.
Oh, and while crafting itself is fine, getting materials is a time-sucking annoyance. I fucking hate gathering wood.
I play it every now and then.
It's kinda boring because of how much control you have with the island. The animals are also boring and somehow have less personality than in the first game.
Randomizing the visitors is stupid. Just have them come on set days. And fuck gulliver
The game is so boring but it's my only option for human interaction now.
My therapist told me to keep playing it because it makes me feel like a human for a few hours a day
This series needs to stop trying to be a shitty version of The Sims where the focus is on decorating and showing off online and go back to its roots as an actual social simulator. As it is, The Sims does the decoration stuff better and Story of Seasons/Rune Factory/Stardew do the social simulation better. Pandering to the people who want to autistically control every single aspect of their town was a mistake.
it's kind of boring now
I don't feel there's less to do. I feel like I'm doing exactly what I did in NL. That's a huge problem for me.
i crashed so hard on this game
i couldn't even get into it for october, my favorite 3spooky month
Animal Crossing New Horizons is one of the best games of the year.
And most successful. I like when that combination happens. Makes Zig Forums upset.
October on the island was great. The autumn look and spooky Halloween decorating was comfy as fuck. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
That is how every animal crossing game has worked after you're done with the tutorial phase of the game.
I got the game day one and played it every day since
Yeah, I gave up on this about 3-4 months in
For me, it was:
>cut and paste personality types for villagers
>time-consuming island customization with little in the form of interesting furniture/architecture
>terrible shop/item pool. Where's all the cool furniture I remember getting back in the gamecube version?
>gyroids missing
>shit-tier crafting
I appreciate that the devs tried to innovate with the outdoor customization and crafting, but I feel like it took too much development time away from the truly important parts of the game, and left us with something that felt shallow in all respects.
I haven't missed a single day since getting the game on launch. Some days I just boot it up to check the shops, visitor of the day, get fossils (and stuff like mushrooms if there's seasonal stuff to get), etc. and leave it at that.
>time travels
>uses guides for fish/insects/art/breeding flowers
>dupes
>uses tools for turnips
>WTF?? this is boring! why is there nothing to do??
Nigger I did none of these things and I still got sick of the game like two months in
I've been playing New Leaf again (don't have anyone to play New Horizons with so I haven't gotten it yet) and I've been enjoying myself. How drastic of a difference is New Horizons?
Its new leaf with furniture outside and no Brewster's
All of the new shit like crafting that NH introduces sucks ass, and everything else from the previous games the older games did better.
Maybe that will change after another year of patches, but for now there's no reason to play it.
t. retard who bought a switch for this NH
What was wrong with Brewster?
NH does the whole mayor thing so much better in certain aspects. You can move buildings where you want whenever you want and you don't have Isabelle telling you where you can put things like she did with the pwps. You can place items outside now which is wonderful. Being able to decorate outside adds so much to the experience. I like NH a lot more than NL because of that. Problem is, there's not much more. I'm finding myself doing exactly what I did with NL. Just getting on to check shops and briefly talk to the animals. There's not much to do once you have the island decorated how you want it.
I don't mind that for the most part but the lack of furniture options and tools breaking sounds stupid
Because half of the game is still missing
Still playing since launch. Probably the longest I've played an AC, even beating out GC.
I'll never get over how bad the soundtrack is. It makes the game unplayable for me and jewtendo doesn't want to include mute music settings in any of their games.
