Same here with SUIKODEN III
Same with silent hill
also same here with silent hill
>got the bad ending by accident because I revived best gith Dak'kon and he started beating the shit out of the final boss without my consent
It's not a meme most games nowadays are terrible
I tried to play Planescape so many times now and I get bored within the first 4-6 hours of the game every time.
There's so much exposition and lore dumping, I've never even left the city.
Modern games are awful but we've been playing nothing but new shit for so long we've forgotten just how shit they really are until a good old game suddenly reminds us.
back then every game had soul, even if it was a rip off. The difference that there was some passion behind it, now videogames are based on statistics
>czech cover
I'm proud
>You now remember Pavel Dobrovský's Planescape retro gamesplay
Czechbros...I kneel.
I heard about Silent Hill 2 and always wanted to play it. what's the best way to do so on PC? Are the other SH games good? There's Silent Hill Homecoming on sale, should I try it?
>digitální soundtrack
because nowadays games are shaped by marketing teams with millions of copies sold in mind.
Just like hollywood trash
Same with System Shock
>reach the elevator on lvl1
>"Let's see what the second level looks like"
>close the door and press the button
>the door opens showing a bright red room filled with low-tier mutants
>I forgot to reload my dartgun
Tried playing the second game a few times but can't "get into" it. The music sounds a little too upbeat and I'm not a fan of RPG mechanics.
games are shaped by giant studios and any cool ideas that aren't part of the games critical path are stomped out. it's a system that cannot produce any spontaneity or creativity.
Check this guide.
>Are the other SH games good?
The other Silent Hills are good but 2 is considered to be the best by the majority. Also the story of Silent Hill 2 is almost totally independant from the rest of the series so you can play it first no problem. Silent Hill 1 and 3 are connected so I'd recommend you play them both if you like 2.
Modern games feel awful because they're made by a bunch of fucking robots who design everything by the book after surveying hundreds of drones to see what's most sellable. literally soul vs soulless meme but it's actually real. I have an issue with addiction to online interactions so I barely play single player games nowadays but when I do I always find myself dropping modern AAA titles after few hours and going back to heavily modded RPGs like Morrowind or Gothic.
Why did you reply to me
Now that you mention it...I haven't seen a movie or tv show in years. Last movie I remember watching was Manchester by the sea and I liked that.
Thanks bro
because marketing teams aren't the reason shit sucks. it's the studio structure and publishers. marketing teams are a symptom and not a cause.
No, you're not only one.
I already started seeing these "tired gamer syndrome" victims in the early days of the 2010s, and almost every single time the "cure" was playing older games out of one's comfort zone.
One user found his salvation from Silent hill.
Other one was amazed by System Shock.
Certain third one had never played a 3D platformer before, and fell in love with Banjo-Kazooie.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
DON'T use W10's own virtual disc app! It will not work.
Don't install under C:\Program Files\ ! This will cause issues.
The "Enhanced .EXE" is also the no-CD crack!
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate. I recommend checking out the DuckStation emulator; it's modern and very straight forward.
Follow the SH2 widescreen fix site's instructions to the T, and you should be fine.
For 3 & 4, check the Guide.
>Protips
-Play in the release order! Do it.
-Start with Normal difficulty! Don't do hard on 1st run (espec. SH2).
-Replaying them all is recommended; tons of replay value.
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting, for better gamma & colors!
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors. Leg it, or sneak!
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help w/ stealth!
>there's Silent Hill Homecoming on sale, should I try it?
Absolutely NOT.
I personally would very much recommend starting with SH1. It's IMO the superior game, and a superior introduction to the saga to boot. It will even help sit through the #2's more tedious parts later on.
Could it be that the only old games you consider playing are those that were already filtered by history, while you are prepared to pay $60 to play any new game with a catgirl in the cover?
games were made by people who actually cared, now is a billion dollar industry so its rare to find devs that want to make a good story instead of millions first
also woke culture is ruining every entertainment, movies, comics, series, and games
Played Suikoden 2 until you captured that HQ and defended it on the lake. There was a real fear of missing out on characters that knowing that you need X to recruit Y and some are time sensitive drove me insane
Does Planescape actually hold up today, or is it a meme? Also some tips and tricks, because I can only imagine it's an unbalanced janky mess, even if the story is good.
Plenty of games that release now are good. In 20 years people will look back on the games of right now and see the same proportionate amounts of forgotten shovelware garbage to enduring beloved classics. It's just more annoying to live in this era because you can be exposed to more games more readily.
But did you update your journal?
>play some mediocre new game
>feels like automated chore to play
>start contemplating if I even should keep on playing games
>play one of the best old games I never played before
>realise video games are amazing
Gee I wonder why.
you're too young to know the whole process of making a product, marketing team rules everything in big projects.
>game encourages you to write a letter to the devs after you beat it
Is this the highest possible form of soul?
>old game is 0/10 absolute fucking dumpster fire unbelievable garbage
>it still has more charm than modern games
I recently played games that are critically acclaimed, such RE2 remake(Old Res are better - I played those recently for first time too), Shadow of Mordor or AC Odyssey, Nioh and so on. Old games are more fun, and I am zoomer(1998).
Yes it does. The enhanced graphics are nice.
Even though it is "story" heavy the story is quite interactive and dialogues feel more like puzzle(I don't want to be asshole, but I want to get what I need but I don't want to hurt anybody - gotta walk on glass) than modern rpgs. Since you play the story and not just observe it passively it doesn't even feel like story game to me. I hate story games, I love this.
The battles sure are dumb, you just aggro everything with the 1 tank and autoattack with rest, but the animations and sounds still pack a punch, unlike modern crpgs. And if you talk good you can avoid many of them.
Also got to mention the soundtrack and voice acting - both are amazing.
This game restored my faith in vidya after many years of playing modern trash
>old vidya
>made by nerds for nerds
>new vidya
>made by corporates for normalfags
