Okay, so all of this FEH drama has gotten me interested in the Etrian Odyssey franchise. What's the best game to start with and what's your personal favorite game out of the lot?

I enjoyed the Mystery Dungeon one.

Start with 1

Release order

If you want to experience the jank and subsequent improvements, then EO1
If you want to play EO1 without the jank, then EO1 Untold on Classic.
If you're new to the genre and need a lighter one to ease you in, EO4.
My personal favorite is EO2 Untold. The general fan favorite is usually EO3.

should've waited an hour at least for the twittertard cockroaches to scatter

Most people say to start with IV because it's considered to be the easiest. I started with 2 untold (the 3ds remake) and I enjoyed it a lot, and thought it offered a balanced challenge. For a more detailed overview, there's a chart on where to start in the /vg/ thread.

I'm mostly interested in this because I heard the devs also worked on Strange Journey, which is one of my favorite SMT games.

They're all fundamentally the same, but I think 4 and Untold 1/2 might be a bit easier compared to the other titles. Nexus gives you a good overview of how many classes throughout the series worked.

I think it actually uses the same map engine. Perhaps play EO3.

Literally cant even start s conversation with niggas like you

I started with 4 and had a blast.

IV or V are the best starting points for new players. They'll ease you into the basic mechanics and such if you want to go and play the ds games afterwards.

EO3 for both. But EO4 is also not a bad starting point and it's an alright game. Save Nexus for when you've played all the others.
But no matter which one you start with, you might as well jump straight to Untold(classic mode) afterwards and then play the games chronologically from there.

I played Untold story mode as my first one and loved it
Regardless probably EO4 as a start is good. Or 3 since it's the only iteration of it compared to the other 2 on DS, although those are fine as well.

>best game to start with
EOIV is very beginner friendly but I personally always recommend starting with the first one in DS and go in release order, it is quite outdated and you will need some guides to know how to invest skill points since the first game doesn't have a visible skill tree, but is nice to see all the improvements by yourself. Stay away from Nexus and leave as the last game as is a game designed as a celebration of the franchise with returning classes and stratums from all games.

>favorite game
Etrian Odyssey IV by far.

Skip 1 and 2. Start with 3 if you're okay with emulation.

Drama?

Bunch of retards screeching about art. Spare yourself from getting a headache and don't ask for more details.

>Best to start with
EO3 or untold
>My favorite
EO1. It was incredibly broken but in a fun way. Enemies threw straight bullshit at you a lot of the times but you had complete bullshit to throw right back at them but also a bunch of almost useless skills. Figuring out how to optimize was half the fun.

Just twitterfags complaining about Himukai art

>Best starting point
Either Untold 1 or 2 or EO4. EO4 is a very polished and forgiving installment of the series. Namely there's no grinding required, there's a 3D overworld, dungeons are shorter and less convoluted, probably the highest quality orchestral OST arrangements of the series, lots of appealing art elements. Untold 1 and 2 have an overarching guild story also with high quality music and art
>Favorite
EO3

himukai drew lucina for feh
fehtards think he drew her as a loli when he used his standard teen/young adult profile you see in the fencer portraits, ariana and hero 2.
twitter wants to cancel him again for doing loli doujins

i suggest not getting involved because it's really stupid drama for the sake of drama over one of the most tame female art sets in that shitty gacha.

>Non-casual: 1-4
>Casual: 3-5
>Pleb: 5 + Untold 1/2

At least play 3 and 4, they're the only universally good ones with lots of features. EO5 sucks. Untold/Nexus are both pitiful cash grabs.

This is the series that comes to mind when someone says name a series with no bad games, I can't think of any I didn't like.

Himukai draws chibi, did the west forget chibi was a thing even while buying millions of funko pops? It's really cool seeing how much he's improved over the course of this series. Seriously though look at the Nexus art compared to the original Etrian Odyssey the improvement is incredible

Ironic... she Revived others... but can't Revive herself.

Ill agree the drama is retarded but i think those retards are more mad about the porn he drew than just the artstyle.

Then again i could be wrong.

it's funny how this is the only good Stratum 6 battle theme
