fpbp. The Halo games have great vehicle combat, but their FPS combat is nothing special and is in many ways a regression from previous FPS games which damaged the FPS genre possibly forever with cancer like health regen and 2-weapon limits.

Halo and Goldeneye have something in common: Both games brought FPS, something mostly only seen on PCs, to the console.
For this reason, both games are among the most overrated of all time.

FEAR is great, but 3 is literally 50% more than 2 and the game actually has satisfying FPS combat that is generally more robust.

I remember the first time I played it me and my buddy pulled an all nighter. We played it as his friend house. Literally the only thing I wanted to do was play halo after that, there just wasnt any game that compared.
Ill always prefer the Halo campaigns with health packs. Since then, with limited healing, the player is being tested by the entire level. But in the games with regen health, you're only being tested encounter-by-encounter.
I also feel like 2 weapons have their place theoretically since it means giving up a part of your ability for something else. Though this is only really achieved in ODST, where theres no singular utility weapon that succeeds in all circumstances. So there's actually a bit of a decision to be made when you want to drop the silenced SMG or automag for a new power weapon. Compared to any other Halo, where one slot is purely for the utility weapon, and the other for niche/power weapons.

Wow. I guess you can go into slo mo too if you're that shit. You're just going to ignore half the game is also just walking forward while some Alma cutscene plays around you.
I mean, its definitely true that some weapons in CE are at their strongest in the original game. Like, there's a reason the shotgun isn't introduced until halfway into the game because its just so busted.
But when your pistol is great at killing EVERYTHING, even banshees and hunters in one shot, its hard to ever find a compelling reason to drop it. Except for the Flood-only levels, since they tend to run into melee range anyway, allowing the Shotgun AND AR to shine.
