You are right, there were certainly still good games after 2007 but generally speaking, something happened and things got worse. I was looking at a "best games of respective year" list yesterday here on Zig Forums and there is a change going forward from 2008. Maybe I'm wrong but feels like the passion was replaced by economic considerations, resulting in blander games.
But I don't know how to define that change. It wasn't the Xbox360/PS3 consoles that caused it because Xbox360 came out in 2005 and PS3 in 2006. It wasn't mobile either, that only really took off in the mid-2010s. Maybe it is linked to the Internet becoming available to everybody all the time? Now more and more people were potential costumers, so games were designed to make the most money, instead of making the best game.
