No

if you want a switch get a regular one because the joycons are 100% fated to malfunction due to god awful manufacturing, and at least with the regular switch you can connect a different controller.

Get a regular one.
If you get drifting sticks in your Lite you're really screwed.

No
The regular is better in every regard

Regular Switch because it's easier to deal with the inevitable (and I mean inevitable) Joycon drift, the dock is overpriced as fuck but it's only an extra 80 quid and you get way more options both for controls and if you play one of the few games where handheld performance is a bit shit but docked performance is alright. I'd say wait until early next year to buy one with all the Switch Pro rumours floating about but there may be some good Black Friday deals that'll make the extra cost of the regular Switch pretty irrelevant

No. Honestly do not buy a switch right now at all. 2021 is looking like the year we're actually going to get a new model.

If you absolutely need to buy a switch right now, make sure to buy the new model with the increased battery. But seriously, they're probably about to release a Switch Pro and you'll just be one of the many reyatds complaining that you JUST bought one.

t. bought a 3DSXL right before the n3DS was announced

Wait for the switch pro bro

It really is. Shame for the battery life.

I have a desk job with a lot of downtime so I picked up a switch lite for something to do.. I love it, play it all the time now.. I can't believe how long I played garbage phone games before this

New model that came out last year (or early this year) has a way better battery life. Better than the lite, better than the vita
Last loo

Are the Switch Lite sticks made the same? The D-Pad on the Lite is the only upside to it.

Depends upon which regular you're talking.

HAC-001 is factually lesser. The Mariko version - HAC-001(-01) - is indeed better though.

>Are the Switch Lite sticks made the same?
yes, exact same stick component just in a different color

Oh yeah then fucking throw the whole thing away.
Both joycons on my Switch have severe drift issues.

They won't do a Switch Pro.
Why need to make one when the Switch is still popular as hell? The only reason the New 3DS even happened because interest for the 3DS was decreasing as shown by sales at the time. And even then, it wasn't really worth to get unless you want to play exclusives games to it, which the only real notable one was Xenoblade.(Even then, it was already on the Wii)
So if a Switch Pro happens, it won't really do anything worthwhile than maybe just a new design, but nothing if you already own a normal Switch.
This is coming from someone who owned most Nintendo systems, including every 3DS type handheld.

Unless Nintendo are just gonna release more powerful Switch models every 4 years I doubt it'll be all that worth it, you can always just trade in the old model for a huge discount on the new one anyway.

The dpad is trash. It's the complete opposite of the garbage one on the procon.

Procon throws out random diagonals/nearby 90 degree inputs and the Lite requires a lot of pressure to hit diagonals.

Would never advise using that for the dpad unless you're used to playing something like guitar.

Whatever you do, wait for black friday or cyber monday. There's a very good chance that either one of those or both will have a bundle and save you money.

Because they always do an upgrade to handhelds with the sole exception being GBA which the DS was rushed out over. Next year guaranteed.

DS is the most popular actual gaming platform and even it got one, you numpty.

First guy you responded to, I agree with you completely but it was still worth mentioning. Most Nintendo-related rumours are BS though and the Switch Pro has been "leaked" 500 different times already without being shown off so who knows

>So if a Switch Pro happens, it won't really do anything worthwhile than maybe just a new design, but nothing if you already own a normal Switch
More 60fps games.

No. Stop. Shut the fuck up. We literally went through this exact same shit with the 3DS and you were wrong.

Why would Nintendo leave money on the table when they could release a new system that will get new players on board AND sell to people that already own a switch? There is literally no logic to keeping the same switch model going for another 3 or 4 years. You're severely understimating how jewish Nintendo is especially after all the DS/3DS models

It's almost like the switch pro has been in development for a while now and they just haven't come up with final hardware specs yet.

Something being leaked over and over is a good sign that it's probably true. Just like how we got the Mass Effect HD collection after it was being leaked over and over for months. Reserve your leak cynicism for attention seeking twitter faggots that think they have the inside scoop. The switch pro isn't an inside scoop, it's pretty much just something people know exists and we're still waiting for it.

Not the point of being a problem, but my pro controller drifts upwards occasionally too.
What shit.

My pro controller has never given me issues, except some fuckery when pairing it over bluetooth.

Get a regular switch so when the analog stick fails (and it will) you can just replace that joy con instead of the whole system.

If your pro controller is drifting it can easily be fixed by taking it apart and cleaning the contacts. Same thing happened to my PS4 controller, and it's no different than any other controller before it. The problem with the joy cons is that they're designed in a way where drift happens at the hardware level, drift on your pro controller is probably just being caused by grime or maybe the stick popped slightly out of place when you dropped it once and just needs to be reseated.

I'm waiting until the Zelda 35th anniversary to get a Switch.

>switch pro zelda 35th edition with OOT 64 upscaled, MM64 upscaled, WW:HD, TP:HD, and SS:HD included
Nintendo hates us too much for that though.

id be fine with just a port of oot and mm

as someone who has bought multiple switches here is my personal experience:

my launch switch has had zero problems and has gotten my most use.

i bought a switch lite for a younger cousin i was going to visit and i was setting it up/trying out a couple games for him while on my flight. got joycon drift in ~30 minutes. had to disappoint my cousin by not having anything for them. went to exchange it to a store near them and get a replacement for them. brought it over and we set it up and seemed okay. i was there for 3 days. 2 days after i left she reported it was drifting to so my cousin had to get their parents to return it for them and the store didnt have any more. i eventually got them a regular switch a few months later(were out of stock everywhere) and just had it shipped to their house. it also had joycon drift but right out of the box but i had purposely bought them an extra set of joycons with it.

so my conclusion: all newer switches are vulnerable to drift. only launch models which are no longer available seem okay. so if you are going to buy a switch, but a regular switch so u can just fucking replace the shitty joycons as they inevitable break. the switch lite with its built in joycons is a super bad idea.

the kid had wanted it as a portable device but apparently uses it plugged in to the tv 99% of the time and t he regular switch screen works fine as a portable, even better since u can take the joycons off, put the screen on a table/bed and play more comfortable. detachable controllers was probably the most brilliant design decision of the original switch and not just because of the drift issue, but because its way more comfortable to use as a portable if you remove the controllers.

My launch models drifted after a year of Zelda, Sonic, Mario, and Pokemon. Mostly the left ones because of how much wear and tear I put on them.
