not every pokemon game was amazing but i think we can all agree that every 2d/2.5d pokemon had a lot to like. swsh is definitely the best of the 3d games QOL mechanic wise but the game content is awful

just because you like the pokemon following you doesnt make it good. its a nice feature thats it. johto is the most boring region with alot of shit pokemons. Black and white and their sequels are on top of the series. the music, the story and even some of the battles can be difficult.

all the only good things SwSh did, as will the next shitty pokemon game when it replaces dynamax with another dumb gimmick.
The fact that Gamefreak feels the need to add some gimmick to this franchise instead of further refining what worked like the previous generations is telling of how incompetent they truly are.

i don't even play these games pvp very much, even the main game content sucks. No real exploration or optional areas anymore. No dungeons with mini puzzles that hide rare pokemon. All the main areas are basically hallways, yet the game still holds your hand through the whole game. And like you said, the animations suck too. On top of that the games run at an abysmal framerate and the visuals suck
I'm not even a huge fan of gen 5 but a quick google of a random route immediately shows the difference in level design, and I think we all know that the visual design of hgss was solid
honestly this is the real answer, i think 3d is too much for them and i imagine they aren't receiving any more time or hiring better 3d devs.
