Now that the dust has settled, what do we think of it?

too many bugs that ruin the experience unfortunately (missing sound effects mostly), could've been a fun "turn off your brain" game otherwise. in its current state it's a 6/10 at best

I hate the combat.

I hate that every door has a mini puzzle/secret entrance you need to find instead of just letting you grab your chest and leave.

They removed everything good about Odyssey so now it feels like the engine is running completely barebone without any innovation, kind of like a shitty Witcher game.

Every NPC is ugly as shit which ruins any kind of comfy feeling the towns might have had.

Leveling feels more tedious than most MMOs I've played, you're doing the same attacks over and over in the same environments, so there's not even any new exciting zones to look forward to.

Towns all look the same and are filled with way too many Roman style building, hell even a small fishing village like Jorvik has a fucking Colosseum, it's just ridiculous and not fitting at all.

I'm enjoying it. I just wished the camera would be a little closer during combat. Audio mixing also needs to be worked. The game definitely needs a couple patches

It's the most polished AC game yet, but you can only polish a turd so much.

The game is pretty good. People will complain about repetition, scenery, graphics, etc., but that happens with all these type of open world games. This game is no more repetitive than any other open world game (GTA, BOTW, RDR).

Do the quests and dialog push the boundary of the genre? No.

That being said, this is my first AC game since Brotherhood, and I’m quite enjoying it. The combat is fine, and stealth still works, and the world is gorgeous. As with most AC games, the movement is fluid but not always perfect. The game doesn’t throw a lot of barriers in the way of you exploring other than really strong enemies in higher level regions.

Overall, I’d give it an 8/10 so far. I want to go back and keep playing, but not because of the plot. I like the gameplay and the world. It’s an open world game with leveling and progression and beautiful graphics. It doesn’t redefine the genre or raise the bar, but there are much worse time-sinks out there.

there was nothing to ruin. they fixed the press B to counter combat and made the worlds fun to explore. the series is shit pre-Origins. and i played them all since AC2 got released.

It's fun, buggy and a bit plain at times but fun.

Story is engaing, graphics are good, the world feels pretty alilve and is fun to explore.

Combat has it's shitty moments but all the takedowns and less magical abilites make it quite fun.

It's definitely a game I'd buy on sale, absolutely great time killer but $60 is still expensive.

Shows that Black Flag was a happy accident and we are lucky the stars aligned for that because that team actually sucks.
