There's this new demon villain that's been harassing Peter for months. Giving him nightmares, etc.
It's a "what's his identity" kind of villain
Some issues back, he used his hell powers to revive Sin Eater, that villain from that cool storyline from the 80s, with added power to literally purge sins from villains.
He purged the evil from some c-list villains and created a cult that began mobbing and killing sinners all over new york. Then, he ultimately took the evil off Norman Osborn.
Then, Kindred (the demon villain) inserted all that evil inside all the other spider heroes who morphed into monsters and started killing everyone throughout the city, with some d-list superheroes jobbing to them.
Peter called Strange for help but he was like "Peter, I'm dealing with it myself, you're not coming", so Peter had Black Cat steal the artifact to teleport through dimensions and record the chant so Peter could do it himself. Peter fights woth Kindred and is shown tgat demon Spider Gwen is about to murder demon Miles Morales just for the sake of it, so Peter goes "nooo you want me. Take my life and fix them" so Kindred kills Peter and the others go back to normal.
Now Strange got the artifact back and is taking all the other spiders to the dimension Peter's in to try to help him.
Peter fought all the demon spiders at once some issues back and managed to save all their lives because they were inside a sinking submarine, but was too weak to stop them afterwards so that's why they started wrecking the city
