I actually know trans people and guess what? They're just normal people. I don't see the issue with trans people wanting to see people like themselves in media, or black people wanting to see people like themselves in media. Believe it or not, white heterosexuals have had a monopoly in films, games, and novels for a very long time. What is the issue in giving others a chance to be in the spotlight for a bit?

The problem is it's a harmful treatment, and the wrong one. It preys on vulnerable people, and perpetuates it by telling anybody mildy uncomfortable with themselves that radical life-altering surgery is the path. If you really cared about people, you wouldn't urge them into irreversible self-mutilation.

representation isn't the problem, it's shoving their definition of reality down the majority's throat and acting like they are the problem if they step out of line. I don't hate gays, trannies, niggers, etc. But just as I give people respect to live their own lives unimpeded by me, I expect to live my life unimpeded by them. I am able to view men as men and women as women and there is nothing wrong with that, just like there is nothing wrong if they want to dress up like the opposite sex and do shit with other consenting adults. There are people out there screeching for special treatment because of their own made up definitions for what is essentially their personality and I don't like that we are catering to vocal minority over words.
