Is there any hope of this expansion being actually not shit? So far everything states otherwise. Nobody is hyped, everyone is bored of the same old 6-8 years old expansion formula. Once Torghast is a few weeks old people will get bored and then what? Back to mythic+ and world quests.
Borrowed power will be broken and a mess, one raid on 4 difficulties is not enough. What hope is there that the first 6 months aren't just like BFA 6 months?

They pretty much gave up on lore after Wrath finished the major WC3 story. Just been going through leftover plotlines and given them a fraction of the time they deserve.

Shitty dailys in reused zones (Uldum and Vale) and a single bland raid tier.
Nazjatar and Ny'alotha/Black Empire could easily have carried full expansions, and hell, in BFA we didn't even fix any issue that was present at the start of the expansion. Sargeras stabs Azeroth and it bleeds Azerite everywhere, at the end of BFA there's still a giant sword in Silithus and there's still Azerite fucking everywhere.
The reason Sylvanas turned Super Saiyan Queen with maximum plot armor.

No. You having to read books and comics and whatever else blizz releases on the side to understand the story shows how little they care about lore in game.
Raids, dungeons and music are still fantastic and thats all that matters.

Supposedly there are a fuck ton of other afterlives in the Shadowlands within lore, giving Blizzard plenty of opportunity to do more afterlife asspulls in the future if need be.
I agree on the new big bad being way too generic. If they're gonna try to push him as a big new deal I don't even expect competent writing at this point, but it would be nice if they could at least give him a cool and memorable design. I mean tons of people loved characters like Illidan simply because "wow he looks so cool". It'd be sort of shallow but at least it'd be SOMETHING.
