the real reason is that series x uses a new devkit that they got out later while ps5 uses the same shit of ps4 but on stronger hardware for the most part which makes the transition easier I guess

beats me, there were probably some underlying silicon problems that went as far back as the original 2013 bone model that held back something, my personal guess is the split ram and eSRAM buffer that plagued the ports of that infamous 720p\900p nightmare from the start, the whole system was less of a gaming platform and more of a fucking media player so the memory was not unified and a general piece of shit, series X is more streamlined and packed but at the cost of starting from scratch, you'll see games run better on it as devs get used to it while you won't see ps5 ports run better than they do now, the theoretical peak will be hit very fast, wait to see the comparison on games like re8 to draw conclusions, a shitty asscreed game is not valid

I was thinking of trying to get a Series S as a little gamepass machine for my TV. I wanna be able to play games at both my couch and computer chair.

I was mostly speaking on AC Valhalla. Benchmarks show the PS5 staying almost locked at all times with SeX dropping a few frames and screen tearing out the asshole. But I think this is just a Ubishit problem because the same benchmark had PS4 Pro performing better than the One X.
CoD also runs better on PS5 at 120fps mode. It's odd, it seems that SeX tends to do better at lower framerates, but PS5 inches ahead at higher fps.
