>release a first person shooter
>punish people who want to play the shooter part instead of being shoehorned into boring MMO support classes
What went wrong?

They balanced the game so only one third of any team was expected to play the roles the majority wanted to play.
The holy trinity never should have existed to begin with.
>just 6 min
God I wish. Also be part of the solution and queue tank. Roadhog is just a fat dps
what went wrong is making the other two roles painfully unfun to play. fuck's sake tanks are so unfun they have to bribe you with a meme box to play one.
i blame their autistic attempt to make the characters 'unique', if zarya just had a normal fucking chaingun instead of her goofy laser pointer more people would play her
overwatch is a dogshit game but its a dogshit team based game. this is just their hamfisted way of trying to stop their braindead playerbase from treating point capture as if its deathmatch and throwing the game. that being said, competitive team games attract faggots and they'll never ever work if your team consists of complete randoms so overwatch was flawed from the start.
high charge Zarya is one of the most fun things in the game. The problem is that there are like 7 tanks in the game and almost nobody wants to be forced to play Rein/Orisa
????
rein is so fuck to play. i get potg often and get plenty of kills
quick play classic exists
this thread is now useless
e-sports. the game was marketed as TF2 - 2 by expanding upon the class based system with unique characters all with their own playstyle and gimmicks. then a little after the game launched (after being marketed as a casual hero shooter) blizz does a 180 and suddenly it's a SUPER SERIOUS COMPETITIVE E-SPORT. anything resembling fun was sucked out of the game and it just became about being a tryhard faggot even though the game isn't good enough to be an e-sport. various people involved in the overwatch e-sport scene talks about how no one actually likes it and it's hemorrhaging money, blizz just keeps it alive by pumping money into it.
*so fun to play
Better shooters have tried and failed to make playing support fun. Hell to Overwatch's credit at least you get a lot of variety on how you play healer with plenty even designed to have you engage in combat. But in the end if you have a hero you would rather be playing and it happens to be in the DPS category then you're going to be fucked.
It's obscene to start forcing the 2/2/2 team comp. Role queue was first forced on everyone when 3-tank or 3-healer comps were actually seeing some use. Totally killed the first signs of actual variety or flexibility in team comp
this game was fun for like 2 days until i realised it sucked bad
i got this game a few months ago thinking it was good since i saw all the shilling everywhere, then i tried playing a normal match and realized this, the queue times are 10 to 30 minutes for DPS and its unreal to me
Rein is cool in how they actually managed to made a melee-focus role one of the most valuable heroes in the game (at least until orisa came along). Problem is too much of the time you're expected to just hold right click and be a shield instead of doing the stuff that makes him fun.
Then you deal with the problems they put role queue in to fix in the first place.
blame d&d
Or you can be a part of the solution by not playing the game
Rein is only fun if you have a good Zarya and/or healer. Maybe a D.va is okay too.
I appreciate Role Queue, it teaches DPSfags the important lesson that they would learn if they played MMOs.
If you want to actually play the game then pick a useful role like Healer or Tank.
Should have never made tanks a thing so you could actually play it like a FPS instead of follow-the-tank.
Literally just play a flank dps hero then. Or shit even a dive tank would be good.
At Masters support is as high as DPS at times because Ana and Baptise take more mechanical skill than shitter magnets like Genji
The only time i found "healers" fun to play was Dirty Bomb, you had decent weapons, good movement system and fun, high move speed characters, Sparks for example had a fucking reviving railgun and was a blast to play

What the hell happened to this game?
I haven’t been keeping up with it for like 2 years.
other team is still following the tank. My team is still following my tank and cant help me out. in other FPS teams spread across the map and there can be multiple fronts. flank in overwatch you're still trying to move in on their death ball, maybe if youre lucky youll catch someone out of it, but the choices you can make as far as where youll go are extremely limited because everything has the Tank as the center piece keeping it held together.
Healing already provides enough to make someone tanky, having actual tank classes is just overkill and forces this linear gameplay style
pro scene found out that you don't need "dps" at all and run 3 tanks 3 healers all the time
after a series of nerfs Blizzard gave up and made a 2-2-2 limitation
Like every other game DPShitters ruined it for everyone by failing to do the least complicated job imaginable and thus most of the playerbase got tired of garbage ass niggas on the role and thought to themselves "ill just DPS because they arent doing it right". Also who the fuck even plays role queue anymore?
3 tank 3 healer made DPS shitters cry because it required Widow players to make break neck shots you'd see in Quake to be valuable.
Also team games don't work without premades getting quick queues. It makes solo shitters cry, but it also increases the skill level for online play and let's the meta evolve faster
Overwatch? well everything went wrong.
About your question: creating a tank role in a fps is just absolutely moronic and stupid.
One healer per team is somewhat okay I guess but a tank? what the fuck.
>all these buttmad hatcucks who keep making anti-Overwatch threads
>Overwatch is STILL one of the most successful and best games of the decade
lmaooo
Dirty bomb was so cool, I really enjoyed it.
I wonder why it didn't catch on.
>so you could actually play it like a FPS instead of follow-the-tank
>pick Doomfist/Reaper/tracer/Sombra/etc
>literally just pick apart the team
wow so hard
The big problem is for every tank or healer character there‘s like 3 dps ones. But all roles are expected to be played the same amount. There just isn‘t much variety in those roles. But blizzard keeps releasing more dps heroes
They jewed it up
me too bro. I guess it was too early on the "THIS WEEK'S FLAVOR: HERO SHOOTER" train. Not enough corporate shilling and pr too.
I never got out of Silver in comp, so I'm sure some of you catdicks will say my opinion doesn't matter, but since I can't have a nice PC port of Perfect Dark HD Online, OW remains a great casual shooter. I pretty much only play arcade mode these days, Total Mayhem let's me juggle motherfuckers with concussion mines as Junkrat, and it's just more fun than it has any right to be. No Limits can be hilarious too. I can boot this bitch up and play a handful of games every other day and have a fucking blast. Got my moneys worth a few dozen times over.
People aren't playing her because she's a gross dyke.
I was thinking about trying this game awhile ago but the constant changes making the game more and more unbalanced turned me off for good.
everytime i see screenshots of queues like this i genuinely wonder if its shopped . i have played since release and never had a wait time past like 5 mins unless its past midnight on a weekday
