Everytime I remember how fun the game was I remember the ending. It feels like a fever dream I just want to forget. The sequel is fundamentally crippled story wise just from the final 2 chapters

Can you guys explain just what happened in the Remake's ending that turned off so many fans? I played the original a long time ago, and all I remember was them leaving midgar to go to cosmo canyon or whatever.

I mean if you ignore the fact that we just fought human sephiroth and not bizarro, safer or even real jenova, and not to mention that the stakes now are higher, yeah sure.

The dude literally went insane and started wailing on Aerith for no reason, and had to be restrained by Tifa before passing out.

I can't....chapter 17 and 18 completely ruined it. It was GOTY until the second half of Shinra HQ.

And not even just that, now the newcomers in time will only recognize FFVII through the Remake-but-kek-not-really instead of the actual classic. The Nomura team, the same people who claimed to aim for surpassing the original, have effectively retcon it as the bad ending.

Look forward to future padded out installments neutering almost any consequences to be had. It's basically FFXV's Dawn of the Future disaster but with bigger negative implications.

As much as I enjoyed it, I have to admit that it wasn't really some fleshed out jrpg or anything. And frankly, I'm not even sure if it was worth the 3-5 years of waiting. But that's what happens when you attempt to make an entire game based on the fucking intro to FF7. It's very obvious that Part 2 will resemble more of a substantial rpg and have more going for it.

On its own, I can appreciate Part 1 more when I look at it as just a singleplayer action adventure game reminiscent of a lot of PS2 games. Still not worth all that dev time and waiting tho.

Please let there be a trailer for part 2!
