It's good for one or two play-throughs, but after some time the allure of the open world and all it's variables boils down to a meta that is predictable and boring. You can try to make the game more interesting by switching things up, but from a mechanics standpoint doing so is silly. Mechanics are all the game has at the end of the day, and it's all stuff we've seen before. Set stuff on fire. Cause explosions with torches instead of fire arrows. Freeze water. Use lightning in water to BTFO everything that is even looking at said water. ETC. >I killed all 4 sandworms. The same way. >I killed all the not-cyclopses. The same way. >I killed all the rock monsters. The same way. >I spent hours standing on the mountain with a campfire to collect enough stars to upgrade my armor. >I cooked a fish. >I parried and flurry rushed the lion centaurs into the grave. The game becomes a process to do all things, and the process becomes universal. Suddenly, it's not a game, it's a chore. Fucks sake, even after years and years of dealing with Ganondorf and having Majoras Mask be the only game with the balls to pull of a different end-all-be-all evil, they STILL couldn't come up with interesting dungeon bosses, so you just fought Ganon-chunks four times, if you even want to; before fighting all the Ganon-chunks again before fighting Ganon-crab before fighting Pig-Ganon, who I might add stands perfectly still, offers almost no resistance, and may as well have not even been there because all it does is segue into Zelda being back in the real world to annoy you in person instead of just annoying you in your head. Master sword was pointless to get, and is pointless to upgrade in the DLC because other weapons outperform and can be grinded for at three hearts with some patience, rather than going on a fantastic journey to get however many chore-orbs it takes to get the hearts it takes to get the master sword.
If assassins return in BotW2 I really hope they add more variety to them instead of just being Yiga shitters over and over

Sounds like a you problem. I've played through it three times and would do it again.

Here's the deal, Zelda series has always had mediocre stories, not all that fleshed out. All the games have gameplay in mind as the most important aspect. Why do you think Miyamoto and Aonuma shilled for the wiimote motion shit that was in skyward sword so much? The story for skyward sword was an afterthought. Shit, even Aonuma himself doesn't understand why people like Majora's Mask so much years after its release. The reason is the story which he did not work on but was written by someone else who now no longer works on the Zelda games. In fact I can guarantee you he does not like Majora's Mask at all. Fast-forward to BOTW and the game had almost no story or cutscenes and focused almost entirely on gameplay. It fundamentally altered the formula and I can guarantee you with 300% accuracy they don't give a shit about continuity or if anything is "CANON" in this side story. LOL to all the people who bought the lie of "yeah we totally have an official timeline, now buy this Hyrule Historia goy to show how much of a fan you are". Botw2 I guarantee you will have retcons that don't make sense at all, and will be a rethread of the first game but instead will be "how can we milk this new gameplay of link getting his hand possesed to 30+ hours?" Expect more barebones story and minimal cutscenes in exchange for "le open air meme".

>literally less enemy variety than OoT 20 years ago with Zelda universe denizens like darkknuts, redeads and even skulltulas missing, despite a fucking jungle and creepy dark forets (where you fight the same moblins you fight everywhere else) >literally no proper dungeons organically implemented in the world with different themes >literally no items and item puzzles >doubling down on Yoshiyuki's techno alien shit that never showed up in Zelda in the last 30 years and doesn't feel like Zelda in the slightest >not only a dub but the most godawful dub that was ever put in a video game, substantially pissing and shitting on itself every cutscene >empty Ubisoft world is "filled" with turds last minute >generic Wii Sports UI >didn't even try to capture the sublime kind of high fantasy atmosphere Zelda is going for at least since ALttP >lead designer is some young newfag gook with no soul

You don't get it, the game is good because the world is big

>It's good for one or two play-throughs
Isn't one playthrough good enough for any single-player game?
BotWfags along with nintendofags in general are perfect candidates for a 1984 dystopia. Big Brother Nintendo always watching you, every Nintendo game is a masterpiece, do not badmouth Big Brother Nintendo

I've never replayed a Zelda game right after beating it other than Skyward Sword (I liked it at the time, ok)

I emulated BotW, at 60 FPS, and I liked it, a lot. But why did people think it was a perfect 10? It was great, but I'd put it around 7, maybe a low 8.

BOTW it's shit; I'll explain;the game is just way too open with not much to do. Compare it to other open world games like Skyrim and Oblivion, you'll see that there really isn't much in BOTW. Around over 40% of The Great Plateau is just emptiness, and around 20% of the locations aren't even that important unless if you want to 100% the game. It has only four dungeons, four. Yes, Majora's Mask also had four dungeons, but MM had great dungeons with detail and each one of them felt different. Don't say adding too many dungeons is bad either; Twilight Princess had like eight dungeons, and each one of them felt different as well. The music isn't great, especially not compared to other Zelda games. Where other Zelda games has more emotional and vibrate music, BOTW has some random piano sounds and adds no emotion or vibrance to any location in the game. BOTW also really doesn't feel like a Zelda title, rather just some strange game with TLZ characters. The story sucks as well, there's not that much story, which is shameful for a big open game like BOTW, especially considering BOTW was a part of a game series that is mainly story-driven. For one, the guardians have no backstory, no character development, and no purpose. It's these factors that somehow make Fi leaving Link in Skyward Sword more emotional than the guardians disappearing. For better Zelda stories, take the sadness of MM for example, MM was a very depressing game which still makes me sad, or the uncertainty of OoT, which had Ganon basically taking over the entirety of Hyrule and Link has to defeat him. The bleakness of Twilight Princess or A Link to The Past, and BOTW has none of that.On top of this, Link absolutely has no purpose, the player has no purpose. I mean for all we know, BOTW's Link could be made to believe that Calamity Ganon or whatever is actually a good guy. It just barely fits in the timeline and overall isn't that great, sure it is a bit good, but it isn't that great and it's heavily overhyped.
Either get hired to be a developer on BOTW 2 or make your own game. You obviously have way better ideas you should be able to make a much better game.
Henry Garcia
>Well I don't see you doing any better This is a completely retarded argument. You can criticise something without being able to do better yourself.
Jaxson Hughes
>How do we fix botw? 1. Get rid of the gay gerudo outfit. Nothing destroyed Link's reputation harder than this homoshit. OoT Link infiltrated the gerudo village without crossdressing. He even gained their respect and could walk around their village freely without crossdressing. If OoT Link can do it, so can BotW Link. 2. Don't make breakable weapons/shields. Or at least make them fixable. Skyward Sword had breakable shields, but you could also pay to repair their durability in that game. When BotW's durability is a direct downgrade from Skyward Sword, you know it's bad and inexcusable.
Gabriel Ramirez
