As a person who's never played it...

As a person who's never played it, does this game still hold up for people who've never played anything else in the series? Or is it just another nostalgia-bait game.

Nostalgia bait.
I was fifteen whennit came out and enjoyed it but have no interest in playing it again.

its nolstalgia bait. Call of Duty: Black OPS Cold War on PS5 is a far superior gaming experience and is only 69.99.

It holds up barring getting the X-Ray visor, which was pretty shoddily signposted IMO.

It's great and you should play it if you have the opportunity to

Holds up real well given it's almost 20 years old. I recommend it.

Considering how controversial the first person perspective was, it's ironic how safe and predictable this game was when it came to the Metroid formula. Like it's literally just 3D Metroid, done in a pretty conventional and boring way. It's way too easy and the gameplay is pretty basic, but the music and atmosphere is god tier.

Dont listen to these nintenvirgins
Listen to based chadI can tell he has touched many vaginas in his life.

Was amazing back in the day, it still is. Aged like fine wine, a masterpiece.

Give it a try user. It's probably a lot better with a dual analog controller. It is a bit clunky compared to modern shooters but it's challenging and honestly it looks good despite its age.

Get a list of the chozo artifacts and keep track of the ones you get. Late in the game you need then to progress and it really sucks if you don't have them at that point because you have to do a lot of backtracking.

Yeah, still good. Really good. But it's definitely a one-playthrough kind of game.

>But it's definitely a one-playthrough kind of game.
Sadly, this is the case. The backtracking, through Magmoor in particular, is absolutely egregious.

this pretty much. I love the world, but the gameplay is pretty boring desu. Feel like im taking a tour of another planet rather than trying to survive some foriegn shithole I could get lost in and curbstomped by wildebeasts

Yeah it’s still good, though MP2 is my favorite out of its trilogy.

>It's probably a lot better with a dual analog controller.
It has always been played on dual analog you just have to hold left trigger a lot.

Haven't played it since I was a kid so I don't think it'd hold up to today's standards but I personally loved this game and played it multiple times.

The controls are a little clunky at first but other than that it's a great game. Definitely worth your time.

OP here, thanks for the suggestions :)
I'll give it a go!

Some of the bosses and space pirates put up a good fight. Metroid is more about puzzles and secrets though, which is desirable.

Tell us how you liked the intro level.

very few games have surpassed it in terms of 3d level design and atmosphere

movement and combat are a bit stiff but it's perfectly enjoyable still

There's a reason people want remasters of the games on Switch.

Have fun user

why would you need a list when there's a list in the game

Replayed the trilogy on Dolphin Primehack a few weeks ago and it holds up just fine.

Why hasn’t anyone brought up that OP could and should play the Wii port?

Because there's a good 90% chance that OP is just shitposting, and has no intention of playing this game.

Because he's probably emulating it and not many people have an emulated Wii remote setup.

wagglan sux, shitty PAL translation, also disables the neat little arm cannon effects, most notably samus's hand movements inside when using the x-ray visor

1. Metroid Prime on Wii is not “wagglan”
2. It’s the best version for zoomers because it’s the more modern control scheme.

>wagglan
That only refers to games which use the shaking of the remote to be a stand-in for button presses. The literal only use of the remote in MPT is point aiming. The same point aiming which made RE4 Wii the definitive version. You fucking retard.

There's nothing wrong with Prime in Cube's controls.

you use motion to change visors and beams for no reason

it's pretty fun, nostalgia fags hype it up but it's good

Not him, and while you're correct, the Wii controls are better. A gyro-enabled Switch version would be the best *chef's kiss*

>Nintendo let Metroid die again
>Zig Forums lets Metroid threads die
There's no justice for this series.

>no reason
They just outright didn't have enough buttons for a quick change.

you waggle fags need to fuck off it's been shit on every console that used it

It's great.

Because at some point you realize every metroid game is exactly the same and only kept alive with purposely inflammatory shitposts. It's the same with any /vg/ thread for a series/game with no new entries or updates, albeit far less autistic.

>metroid game
*metroid thread

but also metroid game

It's not waggle you stupid retarded faggot.

I don’t think there has been a better Metroid-like since then. It might’ve aged somewhat graphically but I’d wager the art holds up.

The core team went on to found a little known studio called Bluepoint games.

They'll release something for the switch and it'll easily be the highest selling game in the series.

please

So what about:
Playing on PC and emulator with mouse support?

How does that play like?

Look up primehack. It's great.

breddy gud, the keybind hack to change visors was kind of annoying but otherwise the best way to play it

it also doesn't work for the scan visor tutorial in prime 3 so you have to fuck around with a mouse config to get past that part

It holds up. Play 1 and 3. Skip 2

>skip the best one

wii trilogy works perfectly with KB&M on dolphin

>Skip 2

Sky Temple Keys, you contrarian faggots.

It holds up really well. If the Gamecube controls are too clunky, you can play the Wii version with far superior aiming
>hurr durr waglan
Then play Primehack
