So having completed the routes on Three Houses I've come to a conclusion and realization. Let's get something out of the way immediately:
>Edelgard is wrong
If you only do Crimson Flower it might appear that the Church is actually evil and that Rhea is a tyrant who's used Fodlan. She blames the goddess and the church for the crest nobility system. Now within her ignorant worldview she's entirely correct with what she understand.
>Crests weren't bestowed by the goddess, but created by those who slither in the dark
This causes Edelgard's entire thing to fucking fall apart when you realize this. Rhea just changed how history viewed Crests as well as the people because it'd be fucking chaotic for Nabateans if humans knew you could use dragon blood to create crests etc. The REAL villains are those who slither in the dark. This is similar to the Shaver Mystery shit with the subterranean villains and the good aliens from above. Edelgard was 100% in the right for wanting to take out the Agarthans. Personally I've seen people say if Rhea and Edelgard had a conversation it'd all be cleared. I disagree. By the time the story starts Edelgard is already past the point of return with enacting all of her visions for years at this point.
>Nemesis wasn't some heroic dude originally and was just created with Sothis's body by those that slither.
The Agarthans are basically the secret evil cabal with the Church actually not being evil particularly Rhea, Seteth, and Flayn. In short, Edelgard's route is basically just her killing them both but the church for ignorant reasons. The Agarthans were using her the entire fucking time since the day she was created. Agarthans are shit and deserve death, the Church of Seiros is based and Silver Snow/Verdant Wind is best because you fuckin' conquer that shit. Bonus points if you marry Flayn and have a ton of children.

Also Marianne is the best girl and you should marry her on every route

Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!

>Silver Snow/Verdant Wind is best
BASED!

I really wish there was a combo route. Silver Snow and Verdant Wind might as well be combined and since Dimitri's story is largely centered on him and less of the world-building, it could work beside it. Sure some story points and elements would need to be tweaked, but I think it was sloppy to split the lore between Claude and Church while giving the most compelling imo story to Dimitri. Sucks to be Edelgard fans, but her story wouldn't work with any of the others. Great game though.

>In short, Edelgard's route is basically just her killing them both
Its actually worse than that. In dubstep map thales discusses how the agarthan plans are to revive their goddess, no matter the cost to their own cult, and BL route reveals that edelgard is the vessel for her resurrection. It doesnt matter how many cultists hubert kills in the postgame, edelgard route is a complete slither victory.

Just to add in case didnt already know, the devs flat out said the church route was made first and edelgard was intended to be a rival/antagonist from the start. They made her route late as a bonus.
I wish they made her realize how much she fucked up at the end of her route, would have made it a lot more interesting.

Holy shit, didn't play Blue Lions, yet, but goddamn.

Blue chads are the way to go

Church route would have been way more rad if Rhea got to fight Nemesis again and not just be the harder dragon boss. Her calling me sweet child over and over again kept me from marrying her too.

Yeah honestly I've seen people say if you go in blind, do Black Eagles last/Crimson Flower if you're doing all routes. I kind of disagree because seeing all the history and realizing what a treacherous/underhanded bitch Edelgard and Hubert actually are it'd make playing it all the more weird when most of the shit you encounter they're well aware of.

>want to support Dimitri but oppose the church
>can't
why is there no mercenary route? I played through 12 chapters and hated every single cunt in this story, with minor exception to Claude but he's pretty irrelevant in general and seems to be getting on just fine
I don't get why Byleth would even bother with this faggot shit after Jeralt's death, or why he even stuck around to begin with, the dude's like fucking 20, go live your life
also the maps suck and game runs like ass, another quality production from IntSys sold for full price + tip despite playing worse than a chinese knockoff

I don't remember any of this

Well if I was a mercenary and eventually realized I've got a goddess living in me and I'm technically divine I'd want to rule everything.

truth

Yeah i did it 3rd and the way they made it all heroic when you kill rhea just made it disturbing.

That deathglare she gives Sylvain during one of their support scenes is fucking based.

>ruling over millions of soulless individuals who constantly squabble over the dumbest shit
hard pass

Yeah like from Edelgard's perspective it is heroic, but she's fucking ignorant. Again people say if Rhea and her had a conversation it'd have cleared the air. I honestly think Edelgard wouldn't have listened to shit Rhea said when the Agarthans have been using Edelgard as long as they have. The fact that she wasn't able to see them using her and her only thinking she was using them was her biggest pitfall. It sucks because she's got a depressing backstory but uses it as her only motivation when it wasn't because of the church.

Is this game worth it if it goes on sale tomorrow?

>killed millions because she couldn't get over her mother's death
why are god's so fragile?

First FE game I've played and I like it. Someone else in this thread mentioned it runs like shit, it does at times but it wasn't really that noticeable if you didn't connect to online imo

depends what you expect to get out of it

Depends what you mean by millions. You mean against Nemesis? That was a legitimate war with a ton of justifiable reasons for her to war them and death is just a consequence of war. The same logic could be applied to the other side which is objectively obscured but likely insidious in intent. We have no reason to believe the Agarthans were anything but the stereotypical evil cultic cabal they were. Rhea's most questionable action is literally just the creation of Byleth.

>Bonus points if you marry Flayn and have a ton of children.
Based as fuck. The church route with a family of dragons fiercely committed to you while having the best interests of fodlan at heart is the undisputed best faction. If you're male you get an immortal dragon waifu who never tries or your dick. If you female you get a daddy dragon husbando who pumps you full of kids. Seteth is stable as fuck.

Once you get pass the marketing of edleguard and Dimitri conflict the dragons are the only way to go for a long term solution.

>dragons are the way to go
I really like it when the dragons are the goodguys

As a ruler 99% of the shit she did was her genuine attempt to do the best for humanity (watch her s rank if you dont believe that she cares for humanity). Sure she's a cold ruler, shes just a firm believer in cutting of an arm to save the body. The must fucked up stuff was probably the homunculi shit, but that wasnt on the order of millions.

>I wish they made her realize how much she fucked up at the end of her route, would have made it a lot more interesting.
As it stands it's extremely realistic. I don't know of any hypocritical dictator that ever realized they were wrong, or at least admitted it.

Yep, people say the church is tyrannical and obsessed with control. That's LITERALLY only because being as old as they are, the Nabateans realize humans need to be controlled in some way because they're chaotic. HOWEVER with the endings you mentioned you can extrapolate that eventually with immortal benevolent dragon dudes as leaders shit might actually be somewhat peaceful and humans will learn eventually in setting. And if the Agarthans ever come back you'll have a fucking army of dragon kids to KICK THEIR ASS.

>when most of the shit you encounter they're well aware of.
Remember how she tries to recruit you to her side RIGHT after her side murders your dad and she doesn't do anything to the murderers?

So where's all the sothis footjob art?

>I honestly think Edelgard wouldn't have listened to shit Rhea said when the Agarthans have been using Edelgard as long as they have.
Even if Edelgard admitted Rhea was right I'm very certain she'd still kill Rhea. Edlegard is a tyrant.

Edelgard was a cold and calculating bitch. She was created to be and deep down I think she's really just a lost soul. She's the kind of lost soul that's damaged as fuck but is being used in such a way by forces beyond her control that the best decision is literally just to kill her.

I guess I just mean forcibly so, maybe when confronted by those who slither in the dark. But thinking over it, I guess it does kinda portray how the winning side in history is often is seen as the just side, even if they are actually wrong. I doubt it was intentional, but the amount of passionate fans she has in the real world also strangely reflect this.

I think most of her fans aren't aware of other routes where you realize the Church had nothing to do with the creation of Crests in the first place. Rhea just used their existence and tried to do something she thought was beneficial for keeping humanity from killing the Nabateans for their blood and bones. the only fans of hers I can respect are the ones who just double down and go "Fuck gods, fuck dragons good or evil kill them all" because at least they're honest even if I disagree.

Fodlan would've never been devastated if Sothis had stayed wherever the fuck she came from.
Goddesses were a mistake. They all deserve the stake.

Attached: 1585409587321.jpg (502x461, 135.14K)

Technically not true, the Agarthans still existed they didn't come with Sothis. Sure they used Sothis and it jumpstarted most of their evil plans but it can be implied that they've been working in the shadows for years before Sothis ever arrived.

>I wish they made her realize how much she fucked up at the end of her route
I wish Byleth and Edelgard got nuked at the end of CF since they just killed the only being that could stop it.

To add it's safe to say if Sothis had never arrived humanity would NEVER have been able to beat the Agarthans. So yes, Fodlan would've still been devastated just the question is when.
