Definitely worth playing.
KBM works perfectly and feels great, especially with archery.
I'm bored, so I can post some starting tips, if you want.

Absolutely worth playing. If ur going archer go kb+m otherwise go with whatever feels good to u

>Is this game still worth a play?
Yes. Start on hard

>Kb+m good or would a controller be better?
Both work and the game switches from kb+m to controller seamlessly so you can easily try both.

it hasn't gotten any worse so it's worth playing
i have only ever played it with a gamepad tho

Yeah sure that would be cool, thanks

Thanks for the answers fellas

Alright.

Dragon's Dogma is the definition of "love it or hate it". People either rave about it (like me) or hate it to the ends of the earth. It's why you can find multiple articles and reviews saying it's horrible and one of the worst games ever and a ton saying the exact opposite. It's definitely a diamond in the rough, if you will. A cult classic with a lot of jank.

If you buy it, here's my starting tips:
>the early hours of the game are easily the worst - I would try and stick with the game til you begin the Wyrm Hunt commission main quests
>combat is not super exciting or interesting until you get the fun skills and abilities at around the halfway point of each class (vocation), so don't write off a vocation - or the game as a whole - until you've leveled one up to the point where you can have fun with it
>don't carry unlimited healing items on you - it'll take up tons of equipment load and you will likely not use it all in one journey
>early on, you will likely have to head to the southwest along a path with a boulder into some bandits - they're abnormally tanky for when you're supposed to fight them, so don't assume you're doing something wrong or wearing incorrect gear if you're struggling to kill them
>you can have three pawn companions, but each one in your party reduces your XP gains by 25% - if you want to level up quicker, considering going with less than three pawns
>a lot of enemies are weak to fire, so it's worth enhancing a fire-enchanted weapon when you find it (as long as it's able to be used by your favorite vocation)
If you're not enjoying a vocation, try a different one! They all play completely different.

Also, if you want people to rent your pawn, appearance is just as important as stats. It won't matter immediately, but something I always look for in a late-game pawn is total petrification resistance. Also, thick ass, which is something you can definitely achieve with character creator.

Tip for the early game: Wolves hunt in packs and their kind hates fire.

Cool, thanks dude, sounds fun. Screenshotted for later reference. Much appreciated

Also, vocations can learn augments, which are pretty much passive skills. Once you unlock an augment, you can use it freely. The Fighter has an augment called Sinew that raises equipment burden by a LOT. I highly recommend getting a Fighter to I think rank 5 to grab that augment.
If you're managing your inventory right, you should be leaving an inn at Light burden, and possibly Very Light with Sinew.
Also, every class is viable, and the starting three are not necessarily worse than any other. The Fighter is a starting class that leads into Assassin, Warrior, or Mystic Knight, but it still is its own effective class, having a lot of counter-based parries and defensive moves. The starting Mage vocation is the only vocation with heals, and the Strider focuses more heavily on melee and switching between archery and daggers than the advanced classes, like Ranger.
If you're starting the game up right now, I can chill with this tab open if you have any other questions.
My pawn's level 160, so you won't be seeing her, unfortunately.

bump for pawns

Post pawns.
Post arisens.
Bonus points for fashion.

Keyboard felt better for me simply because you can bind items for quick use on the number keys. Controller requires pausing to use things from the menu every time. Which means for example, relighting your lantern by putting it away and taking it back out takes two pauses. And throwing items have you spend more time in the inventory screen re-equipping it after each throw, than you do playing.

Let me boot up my game. I've posted my pawn before several months ago.

>pawn tells me ogres target women first
>Gets interrupted by an ogre snatching her up
>hear a lot of high pitched "noooo!"s and wet noises
Well. Also who the fuck do I talk to too about this stupid fucking slab

The Dragonforged is off to the west of Gran Soren in the big hill with the stone monoliths.

>blocks your path

also if you find black crystals, place them at places that are far away from the capital, ex blue moom tower, healing springs, bandit area, esc
i would not reconmend playing hard mode right off the bat

>wolves
>rogues
>cyclops
the foundation for this game is good but goddamn so many little things about it are shit and it really sours the whole experience, dd2 when?

>hangs on to the ox the whole way to gran soren

It's my favorite game of all time,so yes. use a controller though, it's not as fun on a kbm.

Hey guys, I'm stuck at the very first part of the Everfall where you meet an ogre.
Any tips?

Ogres are tough early
You can avoid it if you want, use oil+fire to overcome it's defences, or just try to bait it into jumping off the edge

I'm a bit out of the loop but i got the whiff of that recent Capcom hacking. I take it there was nothing about DD2 in it?

Keep an eye on pawn inclinations if it has Guardian it means they are absolutely useless.
