Silent hill thread alright. I have a question. I've gotten to the school part of SH1 and is it just me or is it really not that scary and it's just the atmosphere that's tense. I remember playing RE1 a month ago and that one spooked me from the beginning but this feels more meh. I mean I'm out running the enemies and have like 100+ bullets and spending time repeatedly bringing up the map because the fog which really isn't scary and more of an annoyance.

Silent hill in general is less about actual spook and more about eeriness and an opressing atmosphere, i think 3 might be more to your liking since it has some genuinely horrifying moments like the otherworld hospital and more enemies and less ammo

yeah, that game is more about atmosphere than scares. The school is fine, but in my opinion the game really gets GOOD at the hospital.

Silent hill 3 will always hold a special place in my heart. I get the love for SH2, but 3 will always be my favorite. I was only 11 when 2 came out so a lot of themes went over my head, but being a teen when 3 released made the moody atmosphere and music just hit me different. It also came with the soundtrack at a time when music was still physical so that OST was part of my daily life.

It's easy to be mad about the fate of Silent Hill, or to be upset at how soulless the horror genre has become, but I'm so happy that these games existed and even happier that I got to experience them in their prime.
