It wasn't due to how Silk Road worked.
The main reason behind exploration of the seas was trying to swim around arabs who were an obstacle between Europe and China.
There was some general flow of people between european and arabic world. It was shown in trade, science and art. It wasn't really big and far from "diversity" that muricans push but it wasn't 100%. 99% is far more correct.
It's also funny that nationalism is a fairly fresh concept that had to be developed after feudalism was dead. National and racial identities are modern stuff. Aside from maybe "this child has weird facial structure so he's a spawn of devil" which was a way to weed out racemixing.

It's actually easy to overlevel your character. I foolishly took the perks that make you less hungry, less tired and make the meters not go down when waiting. It ruined the immersion, before i took the perks every day was like a self contained adventure that ended with going to sleep and i'd have to pack nuts and dried meat for the day and visit inns during travel. Effectively getting rid of hunger/sleep turned it into just another game.

A bit of a general question, does anyone else drop frames hard in Rattay even on good rigs? I tried to fiddle with the settings but the change in FPS was incomparable to thedrawbacks in video quality. My rig:

16 gigs of ram
the game also runs on an ssd

protip: turn down postproccesing and shadows, those kill FPS the most in general. other stuff on high is not as bad.
