Mario Kart Tour is doing this team battle between Mario and Luigi.
Except here's the problem, Mario's entire side is all pulls that only whales would pull, while Luigi has the most variety for everybody else.

They decided to reuse MK8 with a simple port and the team made Arms instead. Next year we should see something from that team unless they have been entirely partitioned off onto support roles for Zelda or whatever.

It genuinely astounds me that the re-release of 8 on the Switch is one of the best selling titles on the platform and Nintendo has added absolutely NOTHING post-launch aside from a BotW costume for Link. They could add more cups, characters, car parts, anything, and it would fucking print money for little effort, yet they refuse to do it.

They need to make another game like Mario Kart Wii. It's the only game in the series thats genuinely challenging and requires strategy in competitive play. 8 felt like a shitty kart racing knockoff like Garfield Kart or Nickelodeon Racers. Yeah it had great graphics and courses but there was absolutely nothing dynamic about the gameplay.
