This game had an amazing artstyle for its time, i wish there were more games that looked as soulful as this

>for its time
The game still looks great, at least. Same can't be said about the gameplay, but the game was kinda fucked back then too since it was made with fucking JAVA, and the desync issues really made melee combat annoying at times (not as bad as Path of Life Nodes, at least, but even back then we had games like Phantasy Star Online/Universe using client-side combat with a sync-prediction system).
It would be a lot better if it was just a single-player/co-op game instead of a weird online game, especially because they abandoned main online feature (playerbase directly affecting dungeons' layouts) in later updates.

it would be better if someone more competent bought the rights to this game and made something good with it, like a proper sequel

When I first played this I immediately wanted a single player version, could never get into it.

i try to go back every now and then, but just never end up sticking with it
so much changed from when i used to play that nothing really makes sense anymore, im sure its not hard to figure out, but i remember it being so simple
>go into dungeon
>have fun
>gear gains heat and upgrade as you explore
>take back some funky rocks to contribute to changing dungeon layouts for everyone
>get some mats for new gear
>farm some crowns to but energy
>repeat with some buds and have a good time
the last time i got on it was forcing me into some weird tier-based story or questline system i didn't give a fuck about and i had to actually refine my gear to upgrade it, the dungeons everyone used to go to were seemingly dead too

based spiral knights chad

This review sums it up perfectly

soul but music shaped.

many such cases :(

Ruined by greed, even though they removed the retarded energy system from elevators they added more grindy bullshit into the game, fuck Sega and fuck spiral kikes

Should have been an offline game with online multiplayer

>thread isn't dead the moment it was posted
anyone up for blast network

>mfw you got your dream rare costume, a squall caller, a mixmaster, OP UVs and dropped 9 books in your lifetime
>all of those mean fuck all and all i can recollect when i think of this game is the legitimately good and comfy time i had with my friends in this awesome atmosphere and world

i will never not be sad over the sorry reality of this blessed game

the fact it was pay to win is the reason why it ate shit and died

The lead artist's twitter has a series of progression shots of his vrchat avatar thats made in the same style as this game but improved and updated for current gen and its fucking gorgeous. I wish that man would make more 3d shit

>it gets taken down for a word I didn't think was offensive but is considered to be one by some apparently

weird but I enjoy seeing people post about a game I like there

yes

>lost the will to do more modeling because some chink site is selling his models with his permission

was it "trap"?

Was there anything interesting inside?

Yes, I honestly didn't know it's considered offensive like I assumed it's a form an Anime term for fictional characters that fall to the trope of "trapping" people into a bait and switch sort of deal

That shit was really disheartening to see as well, since this motherfucker is really goddamn good at model work

Not the same user but the original recon team is still technically alive, and the core is basically a cafe for some really ancient evil thing I can’t remember much about.

I misspelled cage because I’m a fucktard, though an ancient evil cafe sounds like an interesting time

a bunch of white cubes and abstract objects that function similar to the things you see in the world and you meet the battle sprite of one of the Alpha team

The Sleeper get it? is the being within the core and basically powers the cradle but is getting his energy sucked by the swarm because a stupid ass gremlin is working for it

That's kinda a bummer

it looks pretty cool though
at some point it like the core was going to be another tier but with the pace it goes it might be a never ever sort of thing
at least the mission is good for crystal farming

Ironically it felt like a build up to some possible expansion or sequel game that never became a reality, which is a shame because putting this game in something other than Java would be glorious.

this game was fun right until you got to the 3rd floor then the wall hits hard
