Admittedly I didn’t mind AJ and thought it was still good, just not on par with the original trilogy.

No they didn't. At most they tried that with AJ but were still forced to shoehorn Phoenix in, and guess what happened? The game became about Phoenix, Apollo was not allowed to do anything of note.
So what do they do? They bring back Phoenix in DD, back to the status quo. Except now they have to do something with Apollo, enter Raiden-Apollo and insert new backstory. Also here's a new fucking protagonist who would have worked better as an assistant instead.
Then SoJ went back to being "The Phoenix Show (and Apollo is there too)", then the obligatory "oh yeah, Athena still exists" case.
As long as they refuse to let Phoenix go, they haven't "tried" a reboot.

Play DGS, its pretty decent, better than the 2nd trilogy at least

i truly miss the tone of the bginning of AJ with hobo phoenix,and him being a mentor. If exploited correctly this would've been amazing, especially if they let apollo grow as a character instead of constantly rewriting backstories for him.

Bros, I played OG trilogy and nothing else ages ago. People say the later games are bad, how bad are they? Are they as bad as Zero Time Dilemma and Dangaronpa V3 which literally killed their own IPs for me and ruined the previous games? Be honest.

More like they wanted that but the higher ups told them to include Phoenix and plagiarize previous games + Ghost Trick because of marketing. With Dai Gyakuten Saiban the main character is still related to Phoenix but the story is happening so much earlier than the main series that the higher ups can't try to shoehorn any Fey family bullshit anymore.

They've been doing that since AA4, I hope they actually do it this time.

I actually enjoyed Apollo, but Dual Destinies was legit trash. People say SoJ is better, but at this point I'm not expecting much.

Even then, JFA case 1 is awful and case 2 is a snorefest. The only merit to JFA is Case 5 and its not nearly as hype as Case 5 in DD.

Honestly you say that about AA4 but it's the most polirizing game and I think nobody can know if they'll like it without playing it. I loved it but some people hated it and some people felt the last case was trash, etc.

They didn't touch on it at all in 5. 6 seemed to be dancing around the matter as well (although Apollo's biological father had a very brief mention in 4) but then at the very, very end they went all-in.

What I'd like to see happen is Trucy gets her other bracelet and can start reading tics in people, allowing her to have her own Perceive segment(s).
