Amen brother. I already did some preliminary steps last fall by installing Mint on another drive and trying things out. It was surprisingly smooth ride the few moments I played around with it. I would not be surprised if some higher-level task would require a bit more tweaking or getting used to, but overall it seems that the Gentoo people are actually starting to give some thought to the general user-friendliness and the art-design of the UI as well.
