'98 zoomer here. The first console I played with growing up was either a PSOne (the 2000 PS1 console version) or the GameCube. I also remember playing on a PS2, GBA, and PC when I was a little kid, all of which were my older siblings' that they let me play. I think my first "own" console was a GBA SP of my own.

Do it. I fell out of "core" gaming for basically the entire 7th gen. Spent most of it replaying old Gamecube games, Flash games, and towards the end Minecraft. Don't regret it because the 7th gen was an utter flaming garbage pile. The worst era of gaming I've ever lived through, that's for sure. But I built a PC a few years ago and I've been enjoying getting back into gaming. Replayed the few decent games I missed during the 7th gen like Dark Souls but I honestly don't feel like I missed much. The 7th gen was literally so bad it made me stop playing new games for almost a decade. But I actually like a lot of stuff coming out 2015-onwards. Indies are great and are saving the industry at present.

I grew up with an NES knockoff and windows 95 PC games

I've always grown up a generation behind, since my family wasn't really well off at the time, I didn't get a ps2 until 2010 for my 9th birthday. Otherwise it was stealing the demo discs from my dad's pc magazines, had a ton of fun with the bf2, Dawn of War, cod 1 and cod 2 demos (the latter of which has been burned into my brain). Hell I only got a ps3 in 2015, its only since last year when I got a proper pc that I can actually play current releases, and desu I'd rather just replay the old games I have anyway
