No joke I think this is one of the best games made of all time

No joke I think this is one of the best games made of all time
I'm utterly addicted to the combat
Genichiro is probably the best boss battle ever

>Genichiro

He is nothing but a child compared to the old man.

No joke I got filtered before the first real boss, I couldn't figure out the mikiri counter for the life of me. Spent like 5 hours dying to one guy and just uninstalled.

Better combat than any action game I've played, I just suck shit I guess.

>hold block
>press O to mikiri counter

It´s not that hard.

>can beat isshin and demon of hatred consistently
>die all the time to rape ape phase 1
what the fuck is wrong with me

yeah i'd say so too, i think a lot of people went in expecting a souls game and got frustrated that they couldn't i-frame dodge attacks and just put the game down (like i did) so i think that's kind of why it doesn't get talked about as much as other souls games or why it isn't praised as much as it should be
definitely one of the best action games i've ever played, and for sure tied with bb as the best fromsoftware game imo

Ape literally made my blood boil, my best boss experience in any game ever t b h

Isshin is harder but the flow of Gens battle is more fun imo

It's a game full of my favorite style of Fromsoft boss fights.

I believe you I just couldn't get it to work. Maybe it was some weird form of drm to fuck with pirates. I'm gonna buy it when its $20 and try again.

Fuck yeah Sekiro is one of my favorite games of all time

I'm more of a Nioh guy myself. The combat in sekiro just didn't gel with me and it also felt a lot harder

>die in Mortal Journey
>the thought of having to face double apes again

i really wanna play nioh 2 but it seems literally impossible to tell what's going on on-screen because of all the numbers and particle effects and also because it's so dark

>die a bunch to a boss and get frustrated
>go into any of the areas and dab on all of the enemies using stealthy ninja tricks and shit
>frustration is gone in seconds
This is why I love this game and will defend its stealth till the day I die. The stealth sections are the perfect cool-down periods after bosses.

you can change or remove literally all of that

Nioh is great and I feel like it attracts a lot of the older fans of Demon's Souls and the like. I find Nioh 2 absolutely balls to the wall hard. When compared to the first game it feels like the devs just went all in with the difficulty.

Based Guardian Ape making people rage quit.

Meh. It's not even one of From's best games.
It's alright and the core mechanic is solid but it lacks variety and replay value.

i don't mind dying to bosses in sekiro, even on guardian ape for 2 hours it's fun since you can just jump down right into the fight again. idc if casual but it feels a thousand times better than in souls where you have to run for 5 minutes and dodge a bunch of enemies on the way, like even just dying a couple of times to bosses in souls makes me more frustrated than wiping for hours in Sekiro.

Not pseudoDRM, the game just does a shit job of explaining how it works and is somewhat misleading. I think I remember the game saying something about holding a direction, but that's an outright lie.

>fighting ape escape 2
>second Ape jumps in
>Just run in a circle and mortal draw the main ape
>it dies and the other ape just kinda sits down and dies
well ok then

As someone that didn't particularly like Nioh 1, does Nioh 2 have more to offer, or should I skip it?

A head's up: you do have to buy mikiri counter, it's not a default move.
The game also never really explains that enemies block in two ways, a block and a parry, and if you see them parry you have to stop attacking 9 times out of 10
The game also makes it very unclear that that input buffer for R1 is enormous so mashing will prevent you from blocking or dodging

It expands on the mechanics of the first, but not in any dramatic or fundamental way. If you didn't dig 1, you won't like 2.

Fair enough. Character creator looks fun though

personally I loved the alpha and beta for Nioh but they kept fucking with the formula and by the time the game actually released it felt like something completely different. I never even finished it.

I honestly think I spent more time playing the first alpha and the first beta fighting Himiko than I did playing the final product.

I had the hardest time getting through Isshin phase 1
Then had to struggle a few more hours on phase 2
Literally the first time I got to phase 3, I beat him first try without taking any damage

God damn FROM soft, try to make thunder attacks less shit on your games LUL

But the Mikiri timing is very generous compared to normal parries, the hard part is to figure out if it’s a sweep or stab attack

I love Sekiro and I’m worried there may never be another game with such combat flow

>Literally the first time I got to phase 3, I beat him first try without taking any damage
Did the same thing, although I took some damage because lol reversal. I don't think it's really a bad thing. Isshin is the only 4 phase boss (once you count Genichiro), so it's nice that it's a bit of a victory lap. And if you CAN'T lightning reversal, chances are he slaps you silly. I've seen it happen on streams.

Phase 3 can be done without any lightning reversal since the area is so big and both versions can be dodged fairly easily

Phase 3 also has plenty of charged attacks you can umbrella counter easily for free damage

I think it was a disappointment

can anyone give me tips on Owl Father at Hirata??? I just spent 2 hours on him and got to his second phase once. I've got all his patterns down except for his firecracker/gunpower slash combos. also wtf is up with that second phase and the glowing owl. i thought his first fight was challenging but this is next level. god he's so fucking hard and it's pure kino

I can't parry in tihs game, I couldn't parry in previous dark souls games either, I think this gmae is not for me

>firecracker/gunpower slash combos

Deflect the first couple strikes, and when he swings the last time to ignite the powder, DASH IN and you get 1, sometimes 2 free hits on his backside.

how is that good design lmao

bro I don't even know how to get into that fight

How is it bad?
