How is this possible? The PS5's SSD is far, far faster than an old ass SATA drive.
SATA SSD just 1-3 seconds slower than PS5

>don't worry about your PC being left in the dust by the new consoles
No PC user is worried about that.
LMAOing at consolekeks
Because PS5's marketing department greatly exaggerated claims of speed.
That's not it. There's a bottleneck somewhere.
The PS5 can finally load as fast as my eight year old PC. Good for them.
M2 drives are barely faster than SATA drives
The bottleneck at this point is not the hard drive itself
It's well known that consoles are always 5 years behind. Been true since 8th gen.
Than what is? Has no one figured it out?
>using a crossgen title as a measure of new hardware capabilities
lol are there actually retards only just now finding out nvme and pcie ssds only shave an extra second off compared to sata ssds after all of that shilling they were doing about changing the entire industry?
Wtf, Sony lied to us about their console's capabilities? I know this has happened 4 times before this, but I didn't expect them to do it a fifth time!
Lmao, sony jabronis are the easiest marks in the entire consumer sector
What a terrible article.
Those NVME SSD's barely have faster game load times than SATA ones.
I’m not sure. Maybe it’s the CPU?
That's an absolute load of shit.
Sata SSDs cap out at 550mbps
My NVME hits 3.2gbps
The performance increase you get with the ps5 ssd is the streaming bandwidth for loading areas of different environments when you are already in game.
Show me a current ssd that has a 5.5gb/s that isn't on the ps5.
Maybe. The PS5 has a garbage tier CPU. Worse than the Series S lol.
You show me a game where loading areas is worse in the PC version than in the console version first.
Yes, that’s true, we all know what the data transfer rates are like. Now go actually test the drive in the real world. You won’t see the drastic difference you’d expect based on those specs, because M2 drives are bottlenecked by the rest of the computer

Show me a PC doing this.
no dude, lmao.
it's because no game has truly been designed to load things with NVMe in mind.
And how do you design a game to take advantage of NVMe, mh?
Pretty sure this is software related, so i am sure a PC could do that.
SAMSUNG 980 PRO 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen4
Does 7000mb/s read, 5000mb/s write
Consoles have always been over hyped. Do you faggots have no long term memory or something?
Bullshit. They’ve been available for years now and are practically standard at this point
Even in Windows boot times the difference between SATA and NVMe is extremely small compared to the difference between SSD and HDD
Isn't every disk drive a SATA at this point
>Game load from drive
>Sends everything to the CPU
>Read it all, do some operation on it and it all to the ram
>When everything is over, read again from the ram what you wanted
>Then send everything to the GPU
>b-but muh SSD
loadings will never go away
Consoles are shit. This isn't news.
>this is the legendary SSD load times my friend kept talking about for the past few months
OH NONONONONONONONONO
I fucking told that faggot that these things always get overhyped at the start of every console generation, but of course he didn't listen.
>it's because no game has truly been designed to load things with NVMe in mind.
How exactly do you "design a game" to load faster? If you play it on faster hardware, it will run better, unless you're saying every game designer has added a hard cap on load speed to their games for some reason
pretty sure it's the mobo itself
Typical snoy bullshit marketing and retards buying into it and spreading it.
>at this point
You might want to at least know what the word you are using means before shitposting.
Who said Windows is the same use case as loading textures?
Windows is most likely starting services, rather than loading large textures from a file.
Also if games use NVMe fully how come Xbox can do this thanks to software?
Race conditions can happen a lot when playing old games on new hardware, happens all the time.
Low iq post user. There are no games that currently have ps5 and pc ports that take advantage of the extra bandwidth.
It's on the developers to deliver this. Wait for 2021.
LOL a simple Google search tells me the fucking drive only hits about 5.5gbps. It currently does not hit its targeted 7. So I guess it is comparable in that respect but it's also half the price of a ps5 so you lose.
I posted benchmarks for games earlier in the thread dude... NVMe is only marginally better than SATA in every use case I’ve ever seen. The on-paper stats don’t matter when you’re bottlenecked by the mobo/CPU/GPU
What a surprise
>I-it's coming eventually I promise just buy my console goy
Really? This is something my PC could do with a patch, it's all about how the devs decide to stream data. I can increase the speed of pic related(for example I increased Geralts swim time by like 40x) and everything loads as quickly as I move.
This.
>It's on the developers to deliver this. Wait for 2021.
So? By that time PC games will have improved too kek
storage api’s on arent really designed for game use so expect this to change when directstorage drops
What? Most HDDs before were PATA now isn't everything SATA? No need to be a schizo you reditard
>2020
>Still illiterate
It's because they were claiming amazing gains in %, when the absolute value was already really low. PCs have had load times of like 5 seconds for years, so the most you were ever going to save was 5 seconds.
The big dick SSDs are M.2/PCI-E
It's almost as if sata is old as shit and everyone is moving on to something better. hence the "even" in the OP article.
You know, as in even old as shit sata drives can keep up.
I lose nothing because I'm not on here trying to shill a box of plastic with mid tier PC parts in that I can't afford.
Face the facts, PCs already have faster drives. The drive i posted isn't even the fastest drive you can get lol.
The absolute state of Sony fanboys is ridiculous. At least the Xbox boys know their plastic box is a PC and don't try to sell it as having magic hardware folded a brillion times, fucking chinks.
Cope Harder.
LOL no argument here
While that may be true to some extent, developers will be able to get more bang for there buck with ps5 because the exclusives will be able to take advantage of that speed because they will be only developing for ps5. Pc games will still be bottlenecked having to develop for users with lower hardware as is the nature of it. No developer is going to only release a game just for the small amount of users that can hit the 5.5 speeds while on ps5 every user is capable of those speeds.
There's not a single game in existence that needs 5.5gb/s r/w. Those speeds are for large file transfers, not loading gaming assets
LOL, I'm not even buying one until the hardware kinks get worked out.
Only a fool doesn't know that Sony always wins baby.
>PC being left in the dust
Literally never. I own a console and a PC and will tell that console will never out perform PC in many categories.
youtube.com
>arguably the most graphically intensive game
>running at 60fps streaming all those assets quickly regardless of how fast you move
Not even next-gen consoles can do this. They would choke with it at 30fps.
and as I said... thats because nvme's arent being used fully.
You don't know what you are talking about
Read this
Pretty fucking stupid. You have no idea what you are talking about. Those assets? Already loaded into memory. Nobody cares about copy pasted trees popping in.
Bro idk why you responding to me im on the side of PC here.
PC wins again.
We told you there wouldn’t be much of a difference. On paper is seems huge to fanboys but it’s only a few times faster and is already fast enough. In reality it’s literally a couple seconds
