The ships fly like turds

Its fine I guess

Needs more people

Turn FA off, asshat

Tried to get into it but put off by all the cognitive effort of looking up each and every command

Extremely pretty tech demo with amazing sound design.
Not a game tho.

It's very comfy assuming you play the role of space trucker, I should get back into it

never going to get good because dads won't let it happen plus the devs are jewish and lazy

empty game
literal work simulator
lazy ship design
stars look cool
2/10

I play it every once in a while
The mining updates have been nice

Gets a bit boring after 3000hours but Its still my favorite game

Any advises for new player?

It's pretty

Don't talk to me or my son ever again

Not him, but don't lock yourself into only one role. There's more to do if you try everything. The engineering update basically encouraged this, and most in the community maintain that was a good thing. And play in open unless you're hauling a load of valuable cargo. It's good to practice evading gankers and griefers rather than just hiding in solo or PG all the time.

It says "toggle flight assist" is set to Z, but it only works if I hold down the button, when I let go it turns on. How do i throw the flight assist into the sun

its sort of approaching fun for the first 40 hours but never gets there, you will have 1 or 2 cool or immersive moments and then it drops off a cliff and you realise it was all a waste of time and theres nothing to do. If they had a space radio station it would make the game twice as good.

Pretty fun, I wish there was an actual reason to play Open

but there is a space radio?

Flight Miscellaneous, Toggle Flight Assist. The mode is either toggle, which switches it back and forth, or hold, which requires you to hold the button to keep it off.

Just a singular thought? Or would you like more than one ESL-kun

Game is better with friends, and most roles in the game can be done with friends. Squads for combat, mining, trading, BGS, powerplay, anti-xeno, even exploration

Go on lads, it's on me

Yes it's set to toggle but it is still functioning as a hold. I don't even see a hold option.

Thanks Uncle Tim!

What the fuck that image is hurting my brain

I try to play in Open as much as possible. It's good practice to learn how to deal with other players, and not everyone is a ganking ass-hat. If I'm hauling a load of diamonds though, I turn on the cloaking device that is PG and mock them in the system chat while I fly into the station

When you click the + next to Toggle Flight Assist, it should give a drop down called Button Mode. Click on that to switch between Hold and Toggle. Maybe just cycle it if the controls got bugged, because toggle is what you want it set to if you want to fly FA-Off a lot.

Really great in VR if you ever wanted to fly a spaceship. The game part is pretty basic and mostly relies on the flying itself being very solid.

Try not to look up optimal strats or powergame things, try out lots of different activities. When you get bored just move on to something else. Eventually you'll run out of stuff to do but it's fun until then. It's a bit silly when people get angry that a game isn't fun for infinite playtime, reminds me of Skyrim somehow

I go hard in it for a month every three or four months. Accomplish the new hot meme. I have a fleet carrier and carry my friends around. Very comfortable

Amazing at what it does, I'm still impressed that it's a proper iteration on Elite and not a dumbed down zoomer version. The grind is bullshit though, I can only get into it if I don't take it too seriously because otherwise it'll eat your life. Looking forward to the big update.

Thanks, didn't notice the +

the unofficial one? It's alright but having one that you manually tune into via cockpit controls and which serves as a vehicle for pushing an official narrative / adding flavor to the universe is what I actually want.

Sometimes the game can get a little retarded when it tries to draw planetary surface features

Wow so hard

I ruined it for myself by getting deep into Asteroid mining and basically unlocking infinite money

This. The argument has been made that the numerous Road-to-Riches tutorials do new players a disservice, as they have their Anaconda within a day and have no idea how to fly it or how anything else in the game works and so get bored and quit.

My man galnet is back online

This resulted in GalNet going on hiatus from January 15, 2020 to September 10,

Jesus fuck so is there a space brake or am I destined to counter rotation myself into endless back and forth micro spins for eternity?

Mining is getting 'rebalanced' (aka: nerfed) in the first update due next week. Going to drop the top prices for all the best minerals, and up the prices of all the 'skill-based' ones, aka Core mining. But they aren't fixing the pulse wave scanner bug that currently makes core mining pointless right now so it'll be in limbo until they bother to get around to it. They'll be buffing combat pay on the following update though.

it's called flight assist

flying spaceships in VR is amazing but it makes me want to vomit
10/10

Are you kb+m? If so, fuck around with the relative mouse sensitivity in the mouse settings. There's tutorials on youtube by players who fly FA-Off exclusively, as that's the mode that simulates actual movement in zero-g vacuum. Basically it comes down to a lot of light taps rather than hammering down on anything.
