It's his most polished and standalone. It has stupid stuff yeah, but at least it doesn't take itself too seriously like 999. Saying Ever17 was his best work is stupid as fuck lol.

I thought it was passable. Not terrible, not really memorable, just whatever.
The comedy (using a porno mag to defeat an elite team of mercenaries for example) was really used in bad places for a game that wanted to be serious at times.

The final route is pretty good. Specially the ending.

Not going to spoiler it because it came out in the fucking 90's, but when you finally release Fei is Id. It's obvious on a replay, but as a kid it shocked me when Citan turned off the lights and turned them back on to reveal Id bound where Fei had just been. There's also the double shock of Citan being a traitor (you don't find he's a double agent and ACTUALLY trying to help you until a bit later).

I read it just recently. It was pretty good. The twist ending and true route was good just like the other infinity games. Don't know why it gets so much flack.

Well, what I mean is, look at Yakuza. It does a GOOD job of seperating zany retardation from seriousness.
In all of the main story, it's dead serious and played straight. In the sidequests, it's goofy and zany nearly all of the time. It's an interesting juxtaposition, but it works and it doesn't rob the player of his emotional investment.
Meanwhile in AI, you have a really serious scene where someone is about be murdered and the drama is played straight..... and then Date makes a retarded joke and throws a pipe where the bullet flies into the pipe and then flies out of the pipe and hits the bad guy.

I'm right. We were 3 killing games in. We all knew that they can't repeat twists and so we knew they would probably go down this path and they did it well.

Oh ok, then the scene where the mercenaries are going to kill them but he uses a Rube Goldberg device with a porno to defeat them all. All tension is gone when you see a supposed threat lose all sense of reason because titties on a page.

I love all the tracks in the infinity series. I found out recently that the same dude made a lot of the music for the science adventure VNs. It's great stuff too
