I used to think people who complained about this were just salty it wasn't made by bungie.
then i played it, holy fuck is it bad

Yup, there is only Halo 1-3, ODST, and Reach
Thats it, anything past that is just fan fiction.
Exactly and precisely THIS
>GotY Edition
Must have been a rough year
I thought it was alright back when I had only played Halo 1.
>salty
neck yourself
Why is it bad?
should done a prequel or something, I had no interest in the humans vs promethians story
There's nothing good about it.
story plays out like a fanfic
art style doesn't fit halo
enemy variety is garbage
the gameplay in campaign isn't outright offensive like halo 5, but it's nothing special either
I remember that to understand the story you have to read some books.
And the art change was annoying.
Otherwise I have no problem.
Why do they insist on pushing through the shitty post bungie forerunner lore when there are decades of the conflict to cover across the galaxy? I mean they could do another ODST game that spans from pre-covenant-contact to post.
>Pre-contact ODST game
>Plays like SWAT4 or old school rainbow six
>Rescuing hostages from space pirates
>Orbital drop to remind the insurgents why it's a bad idea to succeed.
>Come across ONI agents doing shady shit and being told be superiors to look the other way
>Half way through the game is contact on Harvest
>Difficulty curve skyrockets as you go from fighting human militias to 8 foot tall monsters with shields
>Missions go from tactical action to survival horror
>One mission you have to do a last stand but you get saved by giant guys in power armor.
>You don't know what the hell they are and your superiors tell you to stop asking questions or else ONI will take notice.
>Last level is on Reach.
But no, we have to try and salvage this story line.
Turns out chief is a covenant agent that was betrayed by the arbiter and brainwashed by ONI into thinking he was a Spartan Cortana is a hologram based off his dead wife and is used to control him. You get to decide between killing captain Keyes grandson and blowing up earth or killing arbiter
co-op was unplayable
>making a halo game that plays even less like halo
Stop that.
I replayed the first mission because it came out on Steam and I paid for the MCC. I remember thinking when it first came out it was comically bad, but I did play through the whole thing so how bad was it?
The first mission played like exactly like that shitty Universal Studios "ride" called Backdraft if anyone is old enough to remember that shit. A lot of random explosions, yelling for "dramatic" effect from Cortana and Chief (why the fuck is Master Chief talking this much?) and there were even spots where the floor did a fake fall where it only really fell a foot to make it feel like it was falling. The entire space ship is exploding around me, and it just felt cheesy and lame.
The above tied in with the quick time events just showed how bad it was very quickly.
Also, the fucking needler sounds atrocious, idk who the fuck QC'd that shit but that was fucking terrible.
I am torn about Halo 4. Not a very good game compared to the other ones, but has the hottest Cortana.
You think Halo 4 is bad? Never touch Halo 5, you may kill yourself.
The Prometheans are absolutely fucking boring enemies both visually and to fight, and the fact that they team up with the Covenant so early robs the player of AI skirmishes amongt each other like with Halo 1-3
It has aged particularly badly due to the total lack of detail textures and massive LOD issues. Plus the story and dialogue are pure cringe, and they are CONSTANT.
Don't forget those stupid knights who teleport every time they lose shields. Garbage design.
The two storylines are Cortana going rampant, which is fine but not executed terribly well, and the Forerunner/Didact stuff which was top cringe.
I liked a lot of the new stuff in theory such as a new wave of Spartans and the Infinity. Marines being redesigned makes sense as humanity isn't literally fighting to survive, but the art style is trash and the lighting actively impedes gameplay as you can't see a fucking thing in some sections.
Prometheans are unfun to fight and their weapons are uninteresting.
The gameplay itself isn't bad but the campaign has no standout moments although it has no offensively bad missions either (much like Reach).
And the most annoying cortana, also the dumbest and most talkative
Are the prometheans as garbage in 5 as 4? I never played 5 but they're so cancer in this game.
>and their weapons are uninteresting.
They also added a shitton of bloat to the weapon roster too, do we really need 3 variants of the same weapons?
I'm dreading Halo Infinite and the Showtime show lads.
They are as garbage but 5 has bigger problems than them
I think Halo 3's is hotter.
Why would you not improve them? Christ 343 you retards.
I also know there's that one boss you fight like 5 times or whatever. What were they thinking.
Honestly, I enjoy the story beats it tries to hit about John being more machine than man and what about him is truly human when contrasting it against the forerunner computer beings that have more emotion than he has ever had etc.
But my GOD is the worldbuilding and actual detailing dogshit. Like, the themes are so good but the way they go about presenting them make fucking JK Rowling look like the pinnacle of storytelling. The forerunner storylines are dogshit, John being some chosen being crafted into the DNA of humanity rather than just being the lucky Spartan 2 is retarded (forget if this was 4 or 5 tho), the designs of the enemies are dogshit awful, etc. etc. etc.
If it wasn't for the actually good themes it presented and the good cutscene that brings those ideas together at the end ( youtube.com
I don't mind having both the BR and the DMR but I just wish the Promethean weapons didn't have direct counterparts in the UNSC. The first Forerunner weapon in the series was the Sentinel Beam in H2 and it was cool because it was different to everything else.
At first I was excited for Infinite because it seemed to be going for what Bungie originally wanted Halo CE to be but then I remembered we live in the worst timeline.
The Knights were fine in 5 because they got weak points. But the problem is that a new class was introduced that is just as annoying as 4's Knights.
See i don't understand why people hate Destiny then, aside from the looter shooter type of gameplay, if you just play it trough it really is a spiritual successor of original Halo games with a bit more nuance. I always liked it more than nu-halo.
I like it but I don’t really consider it a Halo game.
It reminded me of the JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot in comparison to the original series. 4 is shiny and flashy with little substance, but it’s got good shine and flash.
Too much grinding and too many cooldowns. I swore off Bungie after they made Reach.
yep absolute worst halo, at least gaylo 5 has funny customs
They're worse if you ask me. Cortana also cucks them
The Knights in 5 have weakpoints, but they become these Hunter tier enemies with a shit ton of health.
The Knights in 4 were only slightly tougher threats than Elites.
I get the sentiment, but for me the gunplay and art direction in destiny was always the best a sci-fi shooter can get.
