I beat Bugsnax and got platinum trophy today. Easily my GOTY. Unless cyberpunk is better. Only bad part is the cringe gayness. But the character development is charming overall, I actually enjoyed the story. That monstrosity that Liz and Egg become genuinely disgusted me.

Gardeneros entire family is destroyed by the end of the journal. One son became emotionally stunted and grew up to be a hermit who talks to seeds. The other son was mind raped into serving the villain of the game and is an implied zombie. Wife is dead and only one of his daughters speaks to him, the other being a workaholic. His life work is also demolished to the point that he has to sell the land for cheap to the player.

Honestly though I should have referenced Majora's Mask if I really wanted a dark Zelda game.

Playtime is quite short. I finished it in 6.5 hours with most of the side quests done. You're right about the relationships though, the game is fully voice acted so the characters are really the weight of the game. Their interactions and drama reminded me of Danganronpa. Hope you enjoy the game if you do buy it dude.

Whats with the "cryptid"? Didn't really seem necessary. Thought it would be some kind of boss, but its not even really brought attention to in the big reveal cut scene, nor is it even involved in the final sequence. Really weird design choice.
