Colony's alright but the cast is such a step down from Awake. Not only are there way fewer characters, but somehow half of them seem to have less of a personality than characters from Awake that had to compete for screentime with 9 other party members.

Everyone's pretty loveable except for Emela in my opinion. hakika definitely saw that he already struck gold with awake's cast though. he decided to go for a story-centric approach to colony instead.

Colony is a more serious, and somber game than Awake. You're confusing quriks with personality. Colony's cast is much more nuianced and developed than Awake's, well except Emela. Rabi also doesn't get much in Colony, but that's because she's an already established character. Auris and Lestea are better written than any other characters in Sequel.

I feel that Hakika didn't know if he wanted to make her Funny Bunny 2.0 or give her some deep, and the result was a pretty in the middle character, with some good potential but outshined by the other memebers of the cast.

Yes you idiot. You'll miss out all the call backs, world building, and established lore otherwise. Characters will be talked about and show up, and you'll have no fucking clue what's happening. Blight is also the longest, so get it out of the way first. Not to mention you'll find it tedious and grindy once you're used to the QoL added in the sequels.

No idea why everyone seems to single out Emela as the one boring character in Colony while giving Lestea a free pass, aside from her relevance to the plot (and a couple of good plot scenes in the main story that come along with that) what does she offer as a character? People always bring up the fun character interactions as one of the main reasons why these games are so good but the only thing Lestea contributes to those scenes is being blind and knowing a bunch of random trivia from her adventures and her background in Schisma.
Auris is great and Rabi is still fun but overall the character interactions are by far the weakest in the (translated) series, and to me that was always the best thing about these games.

Lestea is constantly joking around, and has the best prank item scenes. She's the most serious character in relevance to the plot, and yet she's still more of a joker than Emela in comedic scenes.
