ITT: Vidya Facts You Still Can't Believe Are True

>The Gamecube was a failure of a console
Maybe because of nostalgia but I felt GC had a lot of good titles, its to imagine it sold poorly

Technically the N64, NGC and Wii U were all failures but they all have a good library either way.

The Gamecube toy box design didn't exactly help it.

this.
also, n64 was more powerful than a PS1 and the GC was more powerful than the PS2, BUT, nintendo shitted the bed by limiting the storage a game cartdrige/mini-dvd could hold.

There's factually no reason why the gamecube failed. It was being sold for $99, it had the Game Boy Player attachment that brought 2 entire handheld libraries worth of games to your big screen TV, it had 2 major 3D Zelda titles, like 4 other Zelda titles, a 3D sandbox Mario game, a shit ton of Mario Party and Mario Kart games, Paper Mario TTYD, Pikmin 1 and 2, Pokemon Coliseum, Pokemon Gale of Darkness, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Heros, Animal Crossing, Phantasy Star Online Episode: I & II, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Super Smash Bothers Melee, Luigi's Mansion, 2 StarFox games, F-Zero, Metroid, you fucking name it.

The gamecube had it ALL. Why the FUCK did it "fail"? HOW.

>more powerful
Only blocked by the fact that it had much much less storage for ANYTHING

SONY marketing and momentum, it also sent SEGA into bankruptcy we live in the worst timeline.

>the GC was more powerful than the PS2
I always thought that GC games were just lower poly so they could make games at higher frame rates compared to ps2 titles being capped at 30 fps or lower
I would've never guess it would be more powerful

God I hate Sony.

It's really simple. The Gamecube had those tiny discs, with no way to view dvd's. Playstation 2 did have the option.

The PS2 just dominated everything. To this day the PS2 is still the best selling console of all time. PS4 has gotten close but still not there. PS2 was the weakest of all three consoles of the 6th gen, but it had all the games.

PS2 was more powerful than Dreamcast

It did have better graphics and better performance for some titles.
But of course they cut corners with limited ram and smaller discs. Just like N64 using carts.

It wasn't a dvd player. Buying a ps2 was super justifiable to parents because it's played dvds. Dvd players were like ~$100 at the time of the ps2s launch so it's a pretty good incentive to buy a whole console, which was the same price as the ps1 at launch, but it comes with a dvd player included.

This. People have to remember that, at the time, the shift from VCR to DVD player wasn't quite done.
It took quite a lot of time for people to fully embrace the format change.

And I'll add that it was $100 for a really crappy dvd player that couldn't do dvd-audio. The nice ones were closer to $300, which meant that I you bought a ps2 you got a game console for your kid for basically free with your new hot dvd player.

It's a great design.
I don't get this argument.

Sony didn't send Sega into Bankruptcy. Sega spent every moment from the Sega CD up until the Sega Dreamcast doing nothing but the wrong decisions. Obviously it sucks they failed but if it wasn't Sony it would've been someone else

This. They dug their own grave. Hard.

SALES =/= QUALITY
Do you think the best cars are equivalent to the best selling cars? Of course not.

Why?

SEGA spent years floundering and fucking up while Sony produced quality hardware and games. In nature the weak dies off and the strong survives. The Dreamcast had good games but so did the PS2 and on top of that it could play DVD's. It's really a miracle all things considered that Sega didn't go out of business completely.

Gunpei Yokoi was killed so you could play with your purple cube.

The PS2 was certified nogames for a full year after launch retard, it was never about the games, it was the fucking hype machine/Snoy cult, which finalized killing videogames that fucking year.
God i fucking hate the PS2 so much.

Plus, it was the first console to have backwards compatibility, so it could play any PS1 game

Its not that hard to believe when you realize it competed with the ps2 and xbox. It had a lot of good games but its 3rd party support wasn't all there for the popular games at the time.

It only sold badly because of the PS2, it outsold the Xbox. Everyone knows it's the best Nintendo console.

The PS2 was too powerful and this is coming from a Nintendofag

The best nintendo console is the Wii U because it can play NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, and Wii U games
>and probably all the handheld ones to

I dont think the Wii U can play GameCube games.

Because people don't care about power, only good games and why would you play your good handheld games on the TV when the point is to take them with you?

This is why the Switch will never have a version that is TV only.

Oh yah nah it can't but the Wii U is a good af at emulating

It can, but you have to homebrew it.
The Wii U literally has a Wii inside of it, Nintendo had to go out of their way to disable GC disk reading.

The last good Nintendo console.

The PS2 was just better, how hard is it to understand, retard?

It was a continuation of them getting cucked over with third party developers from the last generation. They hardly had any fucking games at the start and the ps2 had an even better library.
